WTF is this about? Senate honors Bush and Obama?
Edited on Tue May-03-11 05:11 PM by janet118
Senate resolution on bin Laden killing honors Bush, Obama

The Senate resolution marking the killing of Osama bin Laden credits both George W. Bush and Barack Obama, saying the former president launched the mission to bring the al Qaeda leader “to justice” and the incumbent president completed it.

The resolution recounts the history of bin Laden’s involvement in the 9/11 attacks, then notes that Bush "led an international coalition into Afghanistan to dismantle al Qaeda, deny them a safe haven in Afghanistan and ungoverned areas along the Pakistani border, and bring Osama bin Laden to justice."

It also notes Obama implemented a surge of troops in Afghanistan in 2009: "Whereas President Barack Obama in 2009 committed additional forces and resources to efforts in Afghanistan and Pakistan as 'the central front in our enduring struggle against terrorism and extremism.' "

This whitewash of Bush gives me a rash. This is what comes from not holding that corrupt, insipid little twerp accountable for his stolen election(s) and 8 year reign of horror.

23. I guess that pretty well states the facts, sums it up, and puts a positive
spin on Bush, more positive than he deserves, but nice for Bush.

Those Republicans, each and every one of them, ego a mile long, brains an inch short.

2. Bush IGNORED the memo warning of bin Laden attack in 2001
He IGNORED it.

He said to the briefer: "You've covered your ass" or something like that.

He cowered at the pig ranch.

He ignored the warnings.

He LIHOP!!!!!!!

Honoring him is a travesty.

3. And most importantly, he diverted our resources off on a fake adventure in Iraq.

This should have ended at Tora Bora in December 2001. Bush is directly responsible for that colossal failure.

WTF is wrong with Reid and the rest of the Senate Democrats? They and Obama seem tirelessly searching for any and every way to shit on the Democratic Party base.

I wonder if they've voted on this POS yet. Sending email now to both my Senators so that I can look forward to their customary raspberry responses via snail mail.

who carried out the mission that killed Osama bin Laden, and for other purposes.

Agreed to by Vote Number 63 on May 3, 2011, 03:49 PM with 97 YEAs, 0 NAYs, and 3 Not Voting. Those not voting: Akaka (D-HI), Ensign (R-NV), and Kirk (R-IL).

Text of this Resolution has not yet been posted at Thomas.

I am skeptical of this article by The Hill because I could find no other article that claims this Resolution includes the cited praise for George W. Bush. This can be confirmed by following the above link to read the text of the legislation as soon as it is posted at Thomas - probably sometime tomorrow. I'll hold off on the scathing emails to my Senators until I can read the text for myself.

Whereas President Barack Obama in 2009 committed additional forces and resources to efforts in Afghanistan and Pakistan as ‘‘the central front in our enduring struggle against terrorism and extremism’’;"

I'm still gonna look for it at Thomas but I figure your source is accurate. If so, it's a shameful whitewash of GWB's bumbling incompetence and treasonous lying our nation into the needless invasion of Iraq. Further, it is reprehensible of them to have mentioned Bush in a positive light while ignoring Clinton's efforts.

7. Resolution passes unanimously . . . perfect!!
The Senate on Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution hailing those responsible for killing Osama bin Laden.

The resolution hashed out by leaders in both parties names both President Obama and former President George W. Bush, as well as members of the civilian government, military and intelligence community for their work in finding bin Laden, who was killed by U.S. special operations forces on Sunday.

22. You may be right.
Why else would they put that incompetent bastard Bush on the same level as a real leader Obama?

And with all the Bushies out in full force in the media touting the lie that he was getting all the intell by torture, it's like Bush laid out the path and Obama just walked down it.

You know the Senate Democrats are playing nice with those snakes again while the media is busy "white" washing Bush's image.

27. No, it's not meaningless. Not by a long shot.
Now if anyone ever challenges GWB's mishandling of the pursuit of bin Laden, Republicans can now point to this unanimous Senate Resolution that excuses him. Spineless Senate Democrats just went along with a serious revision of history and it matters.

18. How meaningless
if Bush is credited, then throw Clinton in the mix too.

People act as if bin Laden suddenly sprung up on 9/11. The SOB was the number one most wanted by the FBI even before 9/11.

BEFORE 9/11 happened and then diverting attention and funds and troops from that mission to go into Iraq which was totally unrelated and unwarranted.
