Torture information was NOT used to take out OBL! Link below:
Edited on Tue May-03-11 08:39 AM by vaberella
Look this is a meme I see perpetuated by the Republicans. Limbaugh, Hannity, Fuckin' The New York rep King (he's the one who first started it), Republican congressmen/senators, Guilliani, Cheney.

This is a meme. It is 100% False. Let's not perpetuate it on DU.

Here is the link where Joe Scarborough asked Brennan whether the torture tactics were used. He said NO they were not used. They had separate information. And they were moving on it for the past 8 months. So Republicans are trying to give Bush credit for shit. He did nothing.

If we have to give any other president credit we need to give them to Clinton. He started the move to try to get OBL. He wasn't successful but Obama finished his mission. Bush sat on this shit for 4 years. OBL was living in that mansion for 6 damn years and Bush took us to Iraq to something that helped destroy a bit of our economy.

Now we have to give him credit?! No, we don't. Because he did nothing but to destroy our economy. Clinton started it, Bush created the nightmare making Clinton's start more difficult, and Obama had to start over.

Obama created and developed the plan--this was stated by others. Obama even came up with the back up plan to assure this went through. This is entirely on Obama and his delegation of his military. This is what Bush should have done and never did because he's a failure.

Here is a video of Brennan saying that Torture information was NOT used:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/ns/msnbc_tv-morning_joe/

This was also reaffirmed by Chuck Todd's co-host who stopped his shilling to the quick by saying...no the torture information was not used.

1. That IS the spin this morning.
I listen to a local 'birther' radio talk show for about fifteen minutes most mornings just to see how crazy the right has become ... and 'crazy' is the word.

And, yup, this was the big talking point this morning -- Bush should get almost all the credit for the killing of bin Laden because the intel that got him came from Bush/Cheney torture.

But even NewsMax reports: Rumsfeld Exclusive: There Was No Waterboarding of Courier Source

Frankly, I think all of this 'who gets the credit' discussion is a bit childish. Obviously there are many people and institutions involved, from the President to the Seals to the chopper pilots and faceless analysts deep at NSA.

The Repuglicans and Teabaggers, however, have become such haters that the fact that bin Laden was found and killed on Pres. Obama watch is just gagging them nearly to death.

It is sooo pathetic.

7. Basically. It was more so...
Guilliani saying, as though he was in the room with Obama, Gates, and HRC---that they fore sure used the information gathered by torture. But Brennan says no, since there was no real information gathered by Bush's people since there was no name and the couriers mentioned are different.

But in effect Joe ignored his statements. They did not even address really Brennan's name.

3. Funny how they are so quick to defend the thing they are most ashamed of...
Do they think the liberal/intelligent stance against heinous torture is our soft underbelly? Only the conservative faithful will be able to believe that bunk. Again, these people are so awash in fantasy they can no longer tell fiction from reality. Torture doesn't work, our best people already know that. The only thing torture is good for is television.

6. For sure. But they are pushing this meme as though it's real.
The talking point is gaining ground.

4. I don't know where the information came to take out OBL.
But I do know that no one on DU knows either. I think it is funny that someone would believe that someone in a interview is telling the truth. What would you expect them to say?

9. Rumsfeld was on Randi Rhodes' radio show today.
He also said torture info was not used in finding Osama.
