All the deathers -- even around here -- are proving why Obama
had to release that second birth certificate this week. He needed to put all those loonies in their place before he faced the next group.

How in the world could you not expect people to at least ask questions when top secret covert operation kills enemy number one and disappears the body in a matter of hours?

10. The nature of the operation and the way it was done (?) What is that supposed to mean?
the way it was done was the right way - they got him and then gave him a burial at sea - end of story.
The special ops mission was practiced beforehand and then executed.
It was watched live by President Obama and many others in the room situation room at the WH yesterday, and it was video taped.
What about what happened should 'raise a lot of questions' ?

body was disappeared in hours. That is what I mean.

Sure, it was watched by officials in the government. They know what happened. No one else does.

12. But the questions were very quickly answered, and yet they keep coming.
The body was prepared for burial by Muslim men according to Muslim tradition and beliefs. The same beliefs meant that the body needed to be buried in less than 24 hours. The same beliefs allowed for burial at sea, and even specified what sort of burial container should be used. And the decision to bury at sea was made for two reasons: we were unlikely to find another country that would be willing to receive the body and bury it in such a short period of time (we couldn't make the arrangement ahead of time because as few people as possible knew of the plans that were being made); and burying the body at sea meant the burial site couldn't be turned into a shrine for his followers.

25. The questions were answered by those who benefit from the official
story. So, naturally the questions will keep coming. I learned long ago you can't trust the US government, the pentagon or the CIA.

Like I said. I accept the story. The boogeyman is dead and let's use that as justification to get the fuck out of AfPak.

Others will need proof or they will never buy the story and its holes.

Edited on Tue May-03-11 12:21 AM by pnwmom
tinfoil-hatted conclusions that's the problem.

Muslim tradition requires burying the body within 24 hours, and Obama wanted to respect their tradition. He also didn't want the terrorist's place of burial to end up becoming some kind of shrine.

They have photos, DNA, and other evidence proving Bin Laden's identity. They didn't need to keep the body around and needlessly offend religious Muslims who would want the body buried promptly. And I hope they never release the photos, because that would needlessly inflame people.

18. You're making a load of ridiculous assumptions. We have plastered the dead bodies of many Al Qaida
on our newspapers. Or Saddam's hanging and the dead bodies of his sons. I find it incredible that no one bothered to photograph the body of Bin Laden and I find it slavish and unthinking that people refuse to entertain simple questions. I think your rationale is silly and partisan. Saying that Obama's birth certificate isn't real when you've seen copies is ludicrous. Saying that you don't trust that your government actually assassinated someone according to their PR statement when they disappeared the body is called thinking critically and impartially about a situation.

There are many reasons that they might not dispose of a body other than the body being an imposter. For example: natural death, abused corpse, etc.

people are asking. There is still a lot to this story that hasn't been told. And a lot of holes in the official version.

There are those engaging in kooky theories, but there are also those with honest and reasonable questions. Lumping them together is an attempt to block discourse and transparency.

40. So....what're your questions that haven't been answered?
Edited on Tue May-03-11 09:35 PM by Honeycombe8
If you want to know why the body was dumped/buried in the sea so quickly...that's been explained: Muslim faith likes bodies to be buried same day/within 24 hours.

What proof it was OBL? Well, they have a vial of tested DNA; the result was that 99.9% that was OBL. Plus, facial recognition technology verified him (so I heard on TV). Plus, people recognition of him, including the Seal who shot him, and one of OBL's wives. (He WAS an unusual looking man. Not one who'd be hard to spot in a crowd. 6'4", wide distinctive looking nose, large droopy dark eyes w/undereye circles, graying hair, dark skin, etc.)

Why not have more people view the body? We don't know exactly who all viewed the body. But even if MORE had viewed the body (I was thinking about members of Congress, for example), who would believe THEM, if they didn't believe the army of people and DNA evidence already? Plus, depending on who did the viewing, you'd open up the possibility of someone with an agenda hinting that maybe it wasn't OBL. It does get more complicated, when you have tons of people viewing a body for identification. It's not really necessary, for identification purposes.

What are your other questions?

49. I want proof
This is all so utterly convenient.

We have no body - and we "buried" it in a place it can't possibly be recovered and examined. Trust us!

We have a "vial" of DNA and have tested it. You don't have the capacity to do that so you'll just have to trust us...

We have pics but we can't possibly release them because it would inflame Islamic passions, TERRORISM TERRORISM TERRORISM, so don't ask any questions...

Show. Me. Some. Actual. Proof.

Show, stop telling.

Muslims must be buried within 24 hours and no country wanted to take his body.

44. So what? The government isn't trustworthy and hasn't been in decades.
Nothing gets this country in deeper shit than unquestioning acceptance of "official stories" and partisan rah-rah or calling folks kooks isn't going to change that.

We are better off with some level of cynicism and a few absurd theories than in robot fashion, playing follow the leader. We certainly are in no position as a people to be worried more about tarnishing accomplishments than the truth, and I think that it is at the root of the fervor for first there be no discussion of the revelry and the feelings of those who reacted differently and now that there be no questions about what happened.

Doubts and questions should be the response to about any government story or proposal no matter which party is in power the lies come from both directions from to "Domino theory" to Viet Nam to "Trickle Down" to "free trade" to most favored nation to China to Iraq to the bailouts to Health Care Reform to welfare deform to dismantling education.

Best practice is guilty till proven innocent with these pawns of the wealthy.
