I have to laugh, or I'd cry. And WHO doesn't care about consumers? Bulbs, toilets, abortions, what's the difference? Oye.

RAND PAUL BLAMES OBAMA ADMIN FOR TOILET TROUBLE.... This actually happened.

Senator Rand Paul's toilets don't work, and he blames the Department of Energy.

At a hearing of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on Thursday, Mr. Paul lambasted Kathleen Hogan, deputy assistant secretary for energy efficiency at the Energy Department, telling her that the department's "hypocrisy" and "busybody nature" has "restricted choices" for consumers rather than made life better for them.

"You don't care about the consumer really," Mr. Paul said. "Frankly, my toilets don't work in my house, and I blame you."

I'm so glad Kentuckians elected a self-accredited ophthalmologist to the U.S. Senate.

The topic at hand, for what it's worth, had nothing to do with toilets. The hearing was about the Republican effort to protect energy-inefficient incandescent bulbs and efficiency standards for appliances.

Rand Paul, as part of the same hearing, transitioned from blaming the Obama administration for his toilet trouble to saying consumers face "fines and threats of jail" unless they comply with conservation efforts.

And in case that wasn't quite enough, Paul then compared abortions to light bulbs, asking Hogan, the deputy assistant secretary for energy efficiency at the Energy Department, "I was wondering if you are pro-choice?"

When Hogan said she's "pro-choice in light bulbs," Paul replied, "You favor a woman's right to abortion," but "you're really anti-choice on every other product."

I remember when the United States Senate used to be described as "the world's greatest deliberative body," and "the world's most exclusive club." I don't imagine we'll be hearing those descriptions much anymore.

4. There are a lot of Paul fans on DU. I call them Paulbearers.
Myself, I find the racism in the Paul family to be absolutely disgusting, and that cancels out any political viewpoints where I might agree with them.

6. I'm not talking about Obama haters. I'm talking about Ron and Rand Paul. They are racists.

The racism in the Paul family is well-documented.

8. this idiocy boils down to the flawed core ideological principle of libertarianism
that we are all islands with "patriotic" rights of unimpeachable individual choice and we can do anything we want, no matter the effect on others or the environment that supports us. It selfish, short-sited, shallow and unsustainable. No man or woman is an island on this planet. choosing an LED bulb is a higher act for humanity and the planet than an incandescent and should be collectively encouraged- just like choosing a Hummer is less responsible than choosing a Prius. We all need to think like a community, not a collection of individual selfish wills.

10. Libertarians must not know how to flush...
Rand must really be a dumb fuck. Does he need a manual on how to flush a low flow toilet?

For urine, the handle only needs to be pushed down momentarily. The tank will drop the minimum flow of water to void the bowl.

Now here's the hard part Libertarians, for effluence, the "end" user only needs to hold the tank handle down until the tank empties and this more times than not will clear out the bowl of the only contribution to society you selfish bastards are willing to give away for free.

Libertarians. Republicans who smoke pot, pay prostitutes for sex and pray to the Aqua Buddha.

11. Well
I once broke a low flow toilet in frustration. That law was passed a long time ago though.

15. But it was still Obama's fault
That and every progressive law passed in the last twenty years. Must be time travel or something.

This guy is really nuts.
