Why call it "compromise" when it all flows in one direction?
Isn't compromise give AND take? I saw a lot of give and absolutely no take.

Single payer?
NO!

Robust Public option w/ access for all and public funding?
NO!

Puny pretend level playing field public option available to almost no-one with a guarantee that it won't be cheaper?
NO!
(to be honest, I can't believe they didn't go for this one since it was a complete sham)

Since we got nothing can we at least cover some older Americans with Medicare? Unsubsidized, most can't afford it anyway.
NO!

Negotiate drug prices?
NO!

Re-import drugs, then?
NO!

Mandate everyone to buy private insurance without an affordable public alternative and fine and tax them if they don't?
Now you're talking. Glad you finally came to your senses. Here's your pony. We named it Trigger.

1. You can add annual caps to that list as well.
Expensive illnesses will go untreated once the cap has been reached. They did this to keep premiums down, since there's no cost control and no competition in this bill.

8. And I thought that one was a non-negotiable.
I can be so dumb! That one was sort of major, to keep folks from going bankrupt and stuff? Like Sicko and stuff?

(that's my Valley Girl imitation)

2. Democrats could compromise and give Republicans everything they wanted
and they would still all vote against the bill. Why are our Democrats so completely stupid?

4. Why can't they remove the mandate?
Will Lieberman and blue dogs vote for it without a mandate? Could they make the mandate a trigger? If corporations can actually show that people are abusing the system and corporations are losing money, the mandate trigger goes into affect.

9. You might want to check a right wing board
Or read some right wing columnists.

It's likely they are just as upset.

11. I don't think I was using it in the way they don't like
as a shutdown to further discussion and aimed at a particular poster. And I can't edit now.

12. Who do these asshats work for?
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 10:55 AM by jschurchin
And I mean the members of the Senate and HoR. "They work for us.", "We will vote them out.", and whatever the next talking point is. I've got news for you folks, they work for Corporations. Pharm Corps, Insurance Corps, Manufac. Corps, Trans Corps, Retail Corps, etc. etc.

These piece of shit fucks, and I use that term loosly, will protect their benefactors at the cost of the People. They could give a flying fuck less about the people.

You want healthcare reform? Here it is. You the People WILL PAY MORE, to us the CORPORATIONS, for the what you have NOW. And you will like it.

13. So about this mandate thing
How is that going to be enforced? Debtor prisons? I have been bone broke before and during that time, all I had to say to bill collectors was, "Get in line!" I guess they could take away any tax returns to pay the health care bill as well as deny people food stamps, unemployment and any disability payments. And if you received SSI, no more of that either until your health care bill is taken care of. WOO HOO!

What about the homeless? How will the government make homeless people pay? Just throw them in jail? Indentured servitude?

And what if you were denied coverage because of any pre-existing conditions? Then what would you do?

These are the questions we should be asking.
