15. Labor leaders have expressed thanks to Pres. Obama for his support in their speeches to protesters.
I should think that would give some people here a clue.

sector who make products and provide services upon which our entire economy is based.

Private sector workers, non-union and union, begin the economic process that at later steps allows government to impose taxes that pay the salaries of government workers including 8 million union members, (36%) of the public employee work force.

31. Since we're discussing Wisconsin...
and Unions in general, why is the other 88% relevant to this discussion?

32. Fair question, WI has 19.5 million non-union private sector workers (91.6%) and 175k union govt.
workers (46.6%).

Private sector workers are relevant because it is taxes on their income that ultimately pay all government salaries.

I don't see how he'd be much help - it'll just distract from the real battle at-hand. Thom Hartmann agrees, btw.

35. Absolutely right - once it becomes jumbled in partisan politics the workers lose
it has to be a concerned worker effort, without regard to party.

It is better that he keep a distance while voicing his support for the workers.

25. You don't think taking away the right to bargain is even worse than
a union striking due to a bad bargain?

That distinction is without merit.

21. How about Joe Biden making an appearance?
He's very personalble. He could hand out bottled water and pizzas if nothing else.

Of course, he should go only if the locals think that he could be beneficial.

22. Other ... Anti-Obama Masturbation poll.
Edited on Sat Feb-26-11 09:19 PM by JoePhilly
On every issue, regardless of what is going on, or what Obama does or does not do, we get to enjoy an anti-Obama masturbation poll.

DADT used to be a favorite.

Then screaming about how Obama was going to announce Social Security cuts in the SOTU.

Then screaming that Obama was workking behind the scenes to keep Mubarack in power.

It is endless.

But it is also fun to watch the endless screaming as it moves from topic to topic, regardless of what actually happens.

the damage has already been done to repubs there. Words by Obama will only get the national parties involved which I don't think he wants.

33. As a candidatte, not as President
As a person, I am sure this is where he wants to be. As President, this action would create a very unfortunate dynamic that would not benefit the Unions or the President.
