And how many regret doing so.

I haven't watched a lot of the cable coverage - is anyone asking these questions of any protesters?

1. There's a good amount of buyer's remorse.
And a good number of teabaggers who will never budge.

11. No no... this is vitally interesting and important.....

... to a blue-collar guy like me. I have endured the angry, self-righteous ignorance of hundreds of these Right-wingnut union member goof-balls. If they are now out in the streets it represents a major 180 for these guys.

A tipping-point indicator I have been looking (hoping?)for.

if they would be truthful.

20. I get the fact that liberals voted DEM, while independent voters went GOP or stayed home.
I get the fact that Obama's "centrism" failed to attract these voters, just as the left warned.

25. So it's Obama's "centrism"...
that caused them to vote for their Reaper? Obama wasn't on the ticket, Tom Barrett was.

30. And the DNC, and the DCCC. It certainly was not a result of anything Liberal voters did.
Polls show that it was the "independents" who failed to show up or who voted GOP, not Liberals.

If Liberals were out to "punish" Obama, I think we would have seen a huge spike in far left 3rd party votes. Did not happen.

In other words, after all the compromising & steering to the right to attract "moderates" or what have you, they remained unimpressed with prevailing DEM centrisim and either went GOP or stayed home.

27. The left warned????
They warned Obama and they sure showed him...right? He still has a job and will continue beyond 2012. And will continue to do what he thinks is best.

When are people going to learn???? You have two choices...left or right...no others that matter. If you don't vote for one side, you vote for the other. And you screw yourself.

Let this be a lesson to those intending not to vote in 2012. What exactly do you accomplish? What did the Nader voters accomplish in 2000?
Big fat zero!!!

29. Sure- we warned "centrists" that the "independent" voters opposed mandates, for instance.
Edited on Fri Feb-18-11 08:31 PM by Dr Fate
And many on the left predicted it could contribute to midterm losses.

It did.

Many independents were curious to see if Obama would end the war, or improve the economy in a way that voters could really see it and feel it in their wallets.

As Obama failed in these efforts, the left predicted it would have an impact on "independent" voter turnout in the midterms.

It did.

So yes- the left warned that the "centrist" strategies would not get votes, and they were right. Those voters stayed home or just went back to the devil they knew.

The Liberal position was that populist strategies and sticking to our guns would be a better game. I still think it is.

A lesson for those intending not to vote? You must mean the independents that centrist strategy failed to attract- b/c the polls show that they, not Liberals were the ones who stayed home or went GOP.

19. Unions were among the biggest backers of DEMS in 2010.
You are confusing loyal union members with the "centrists", "independents" & "moderates" who failed to be impressed by Obama "working with" the right wing & Wall Street.

Liberals voted DEM. The people who did not vote or who went GOP were the "centrists", "independents" & "moderates." You know, the guys we compromised everything away for so they would vote DEM. LOL! More "centrist" chess playing I guess.

10. I asked my daughter if she had spoken to anyone in
Madison about this. She thinks a lot of them stayed home. Some don't vote at the midterm. Some voted for repubs to "send a message to the Democrats."

They are sorry now.

You know that these teagaggers were organized, too. We were not.

15. Here's a better question:
Let's say John Doe is in a union and loves it, but is anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage/DADT, a strong supporter of the NRA and guns, wants low to no taxes, opposes illegal immigration/amnesty, hates (in his words) "Obama-Care", and supports capital punishment for murderers. Who should John Doe vote for?

16. He should vote Democrat.
It will help the union.

All the rest are personal choices he
can make for himself, about himself.

If he is against abortion, he shouldn't have one.
If he wants a gun, no one is stopping him.
Against gay marriage, don't marry a gay person.

What's the dilemma?

21. Sounds like they need a blue dog
Edited on Fri Feb-18-11 07:24 PM by marlakay
And that is why they picked up rural areas. Dems in the city don't get what it's like to live in the more rural areas where everyone has a gun even dems, most go to church and are pro life and not into gay marriage. That is how my small town is.

I am from bay area so understand now both.

Getting rid of all the blue dogs isn't always the answer. That is how republicans take over. In these areas a true progressive would never win.

17. I'm more interested in how many are going to vote DEM in 2012.
Edited on Fri Feb-18-11 06:32 PM by Dr Fate
Which one reason why I want elected DEMS to be a lot more front & center on this, getting in front of cameras, going to the rally, etc.

DEMS who do not see the GOTV potential here are foolish in my opinion.

18. 37% of union household voters voted for Walker
according to the exit polls: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2010/results/polls/#val=WIG00p2

I certainly hope they regret it--and don't make the same mistake in the future.
