Gov Daniels of IN may not run for president--may endorse Haley Barbour
Edited on Fri Jan-14-11 11:45 AM by WI_DEM
GOP insiders tell Mike Allen that Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels "is appearing less likely to run for president, based in part on a slowing in the parade of fundraisers and policy gurus to Indianapolis. One prediction: Daniels will endorse his friend Haley Barbour, who shows every sign of RAMPING UP, including meeting with potential consultants and staff."

Perhaps a Barbour/Daniels ticket.

4. Oh please...oh please...
Haley Barbour would be almost as easy to beat as Sarah Palin. He's fat, smirking, and stereotypically racist Southerner--against the first multiracial President in history, he's going to look like George Wallace redux.

5. Haley Barbour running against an African American incumbent President. That could prove
interesting. Would the Republicans really make the mistake of thinking that what works in Mississippi is going to work in the states Obama won in 2008?

12. If Daniels doesn't run, then Mike Pence probably will. And I actually think he will

win the nomination. But Obama will beat him in the GE. At which point, the Republicans, of course, will proclaim him to be like Barry Goldwater--a visionary ahead of his time, the forerunner to Ronald Reagan.

17. Yup, Pence is a sneaky fucker ...
... saying all the 'right things' to make the right wing loonies happy, while appearing to be a 'thoughtful and calm conservative'.

:scared: Daniels would be a helluva lot easier to beat - remember, he was part of the W. admin that fucked the economy so incredibly badly. Pence doesn't have an albatross yet.

13. If Barbour wins the GOP nomination.
Obama will have a Reagan/Mondale type win. That guy will resonate only in the deep south. He'll win ARK, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Obama may win all the rest of the states. lol

14. Will SOMEONE please run?!
If they let Obama run un-opposed, the teabaggers will never let us hear the end of it. :)

15. Following are NOT running
Edited on Fri Jan-14-11 11:51 PM by golfguru
Palin, Christy, Daniels, Rubio

That leaves Romney, Pawlenty, Huckabee, Gingrich, Barbour, Pence & Bachmann.
Take your pick.

If there is a deadlock at the convention with no one with enough electorals,
I have a feeling they will draft Christy.

19. Agree, Huck should get a running start in Iowa
but I have a feeling he may not do so well in most other states
because he is perceived as soft on crime. That man he pardoned
committed some bad crimes later. That will be used to pull him down
by his primary opponents.

18. K&R- I think the GOP knows Obama will win in '12, and they don't want to
"waste" a really top contender...they are waiting till 2016, when Chris Christie stated he might run.

I wonder if the Democrats are planning that far ahead...
(Sometimes I wonder if they are planning at all...)
