Situation in Afghanistan war bleaker than you think
http://www.slate.com/id/2278235/

Stop this endless war now! It has lasted longer than Viet-Nam war!!
All those Billions we are spending in Afghanistan war are needed at
home to shore up social security and medicare. Not to mention loss of
our brave military personnel.

So why is this war continuing? What is the end game? To prop up the
corrupt regime of Karzai?

If I was the president, I would declare victory and bring the boys and girls
home before mid-2011.

1. The option is pretty simple...
We leave and tell them we will annihilate them if they let another attack happen...

Not invade, just bomb...

2. Who are the "they" that might let another attack happen?
Would that "they" include all of the innocents killed by our bombs who have no say in what happens in the country where they happen to live?

The reality is that this war will still be going on under Obama all through a second term if he is reelected.

3. The government that allows the AQ operate in the territory...
The reason I say this is because Bush fucked the pooch and immediately took his focus away from Afganistan and put 99% of his attention on Saddam. He should have gone in the with Stealth and taken them out....

He could have ended this in a year, got OBN and put him on trial but he was the wrong man at the right time.

Go after Karzai and his minions who are looking the other way.

5. What would you suggest if we are attacked and it could be proven
that the perpetrators were in Afghanistan.

8. Excuse me, the AQ leaders have safe haven in Pakistan
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 06:39 PM by golfguru
Only local people fighting our military in Afghanistan are Taliban.
Taliban had no hand in 911 attack. They are islamist fanatics
who want to control Afghanistan and have no interest in terror
attacks on other countries. The main issue with them is human rights.

The Al Qaeda now based n Pakistan attack us from across the border and then
flee back into Pakistan where our military is not allowed to chase them.

9. As crazy as your solution sounds, it is the most cost effective
in terms of blood and treasure, and will actually work!
If the leaders in Yemen were convinced that they would be bombed
into oblivion if a terror attack was planned in their country, they
themselves will get rid of the terrorists.

7. Has someone told the president that all Al Qaeda leaders are

holed up in Pakistan, and not in Afghanistan? And Pakistan will not
allow our military to clean them out under the pretext of sovereign
country blah blah. Yet Pakistan is happy to accept $10-15 Billion gift
every year because they are "hunting" for AQ leaders <rolls my eyes>.

We are so friggin naive! The Pakistani leaders must be laughing their heads off.
