3. From the article:
Yet the survey also shows Obama comfortably leading prominent Republicans like former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in hypothetical head-to-head match-ups for 2012.

And it finds that nearly three-quarters of Americans personally like the president, even if they don’t agree with his policies.

So, rather than looking like a “battered and bruised” Rocky Balboa at this point in his presidency, says Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, Obama resembles an “exhausted” Lance Armstrong.

“From my point of view, this poll is anything but a lump of coal in the president’s Christmas stocking,” said Hart,
who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff."

6. Another thing to consider
People like Obama personally except for teabaggers. His job Approval number goes down because people blame the government for economic downturn or feel he hasn't done enough.History has shown people will vote for someone even If they don't agree with them
on things If they like them.People Liked Reagan and they voted for him except for Blacks and some hardcore Liberals.People liked
Bush JR personally(although I still question why) With Clinton some liked him personally while others likes overall Job Performances(they may not have liked all his decisons as President) but had questions about his personal qualitys but still voted for him.Obama's personal likabilty will be a asset In 2012.

7. At this point in time if that's the best we can do, then we are totally fucked
We should be leading the "generic Republican" by way more than 3 measly points and jerkoffs like Romney by more than single digits. Good gawd, and to think people around here are celebrating this. We're in serious fucking trouble if this is where we stand as the party in power.

9. Did you happen to notice...
...what happened to incumbents, especially incumbent governors, in the last election?

The party in power gets blamed for bad times. In the midst of the worst recession in 70 years, for an incumbent executive to be up at all is a remarkable accomplishment.

Of course, if the public option had only been passed, that lead could well be as much as 3%.

10. This poll was taken in the middle of his term
and in the midst of a painstakingly slow recovery from the most severe recession since the Big One. Considering the present state of the economy and the present right wing deluge from the MSM these are actually quite impressive numbers.
