The monthly amounts are pretty minimal. The biggie is the child tax credit and you don't see that til tax time.

Republicans could have held out til mid year with little consequence while the unemployed get nothing.

1. Your forgetting payroll taxes
For those with paychecks, every check has an percentage taken out for SS and income taxes. So yes, I'd notice pretty quick.

But I don't care, kill the deal!!!

People would notice that debate. Even given the usual terrible coverage, pressure would build on the GOP because their position is inconsistent garbage, obstructing policy a vast majority of voters (and a majority of GOP voters) wants.

4. We already had a vote and people barely noticed.
We only got 53 votes with 57 Dems plus Lieberman.
