Obama made it clear today: he only wants to be a one term President!
Edited on Mon Nov-29-10 05:25 PM by activa8tr
As far as I am concerned, he has lost the teacher vote, the doctor's, nurses and patients' vote (with his puny health care plan), the federal employee vote, (which is Virginia and MD)the retired vote, (with his "fiscal budget whatever commission to cut Medicare and SS)

He might as well have handed over the keys to the White House to the Republicans in 2012 today.

I love the guy as a person, I don't agree with much he is doing, even though I agreed with much he was saying 2 years ago.

WTF happened between those stirring speeches and his namby pamby "BI-PARTISAN" bowing and genuflecting to Boehner, McConnell, and the Blue Dogs.

We should be planning 2016 campaigns from this day forward.

By then, we will have bread lines, soup kitchens, and 20% unemployment. We will have no FBI, no CIA, no military not involved in Korea, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and somewhere else.

We might have had WW III by then under President Palin, President Romney, or President Christie, or Bush III, (Jeb).

Obama gave it all up today! No taxes increased for the obscenely rich, but the FBI agents, and the Secret Service who literally are asked to give their life up to a bullet for him.... no raises for them...

Obama, the ultimate puppet of corporate America. We were all hoodwinked by a great speech guy!

12. Oh Don't get me wrong, I will vote for him in 2012, if he runs, but
I don't think it will make the difference of piss in the wind.

He basically has given over America to our corporations, given up millions of his voters for what purpose?

The man with the golden voice had no backbone and no vision that couldn't be tossed out to get some image of "go-along get-along" across.

20. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
And a lot has been done. If he had no backbone he'd have never made it this far. This president is working under what abuse counselors would call a hostile workplace environment. The rightwing hates his guts and will do anything to stop his progress. President Obama is despised for his race to start with, and add the birthers and the tenthers and the rest of the bigoted idiots who slime out of one side of their mouths in the congress and then think about it. That anything has been done is a minor miracle. I can't change your mind, but I do think that you are wrong to brush off the facts.

If anyone else was in Mr. Obama's shoes they'd have a nervous breakdown. It amuses me that people can suggest all of these ideas and complain about the job he's doing, but not one of the naysayers would take his place.

It's too tempting to order Mr. Obama around and treat him as a servant. :eyes:

9. I don't know, but I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this.
I think Obama was pretty convinced that the economy would have recovered sufficiently by the time of the midterms that it would not be as bad as it was. In 2 years from now if things are not much better than now, or it has to be explained over and over why things are better but it isn't really obvious to the person on the street, bad things will happen if the Republicans get their act together.

And yes, Obama the President does seem to be different than Obama the candidate or Obama the campaigner.

I swear some people continue to flirt with disaster.

Harassment and insult?

Ferfuckssakes... are you kidding?

The preponderance of people dissing Obama for not doing enough is precisely due to civics ignorance.

As for federal workers getting a wage freeze, it sure beats getting their jobs eliminated. It's a way of keeping federal workers to have a job rather than having the Republicans just cut the jobs out altogether.

This again gets back to civics ignorance.

Obama has to make cuts and doesn't have the votes to overturn massive job elimination that would occur if Republicans had their way. With the wage freeze, they will not eliminate the jobs.

If this is difficult to understand, then that's too goddamn bad.

The vote was unanimous. The governmental body in question is for offices on a Township board and all but one position is part-time. The full-time position was cut in pay $4,000.00 per year.

Given what was happening in the private sector it was the right thing to do, and fiscally responsible action given our declining tax revenues

58. Obviously, you didn't listen to him during the campaign
You heard just what you wanted to hear. If you'd listen, if you'd read his books - really read them -you wouldn't be surprised by anything that he's doing over the past two years. He's governing exactly the way he said he will. You voted for the man you wanted him to be, not the man he really is. You can fault yourself only.

And no, you don't really "like him". Not with that language you use against him. But, you and your friends will get what you want.

67. Why this argument is false.
We vote for someone we hope has an ideology. An ideology they will use in their day to day decisions. We don't vote for someone's checklist of campaign promises. They can't promise what hasn't happened yet. When the tough decisions are in front of Obama we want him to do what is right, not to see if his campaign checklist contains the item in question or he can simply do what the Corporations or Republicans want.

Obama's supporters did not want an insurance mandate, an escalation in Afghanistan (and no, in the campaign saying we will concentrate on Afghanistan did not mean an escalation of troops and violence, it could also have meant increased diplomacy and rebuilding efforts, although that isn't what we got), we did not vote for keeping Gitmo open, we did not vote for the U.S. to support the most corrupt elections in Egypt's history, we did not vote to bail out Wall St. and to kick people out of their houses and foreclose on them.

64. I suspect he never wanted to be president to begin with.
Edited on Tue Nov-30-10 04:37 AM by BlueIris
And I've seen no evidence he wants a second term. But since Obama is not in charge here, and he will do what his handlers want, he'll run again if they tell him to. Will the Democratic Party stand up to them? It didn't last time. Could the Democratic candidate pull out victory over the Republican at this point? Not without stealing the election, IMO. Would MSM let the Democrats get away with that? Possibly.

So we'll see.

65. Smart guy, I should say. He won by a majority, the American People
voted for Hope and Change and they got screwed. Do not get me wrong, President Obama did the whitewash and people were fooled but as for policy, he still to deliver. His speeches were great, now I do not want to hear them anymore.

Rendition is going on, Gitmo still there, the US escalating its occupation in Afghanistan, bombing Pakistan and Yemen for no reason and Iraq remains a quagmire.

Thank you Mr. President for all your false promises. Hope and Change, where is that?

Oh, this post will be deleted!

THREE years Fed. employee pay freeze, as well as a HIRING freeze, and possible additional pay CUTS. So, Obama actually pre-empted this report by giving Fed. workers a BETTER deal than the report will call for.
