Speaker Pelosi has promised a vote on the Fair Elections Now Act
This bill below is apparently a revised version of the Fair Elections Now Act which was introduced by Rep. John Larson who introduced the original Fair Elections Now Act, H.R. 1826 on 7/30/2009 and which has 165 cosponsors. There is no better time for Democrats to stand up for public financing of their campaigns and distinguish themselves from Republicans. Will they have the courage to do what's right for our broken system of campaign finance. That's the question.

(Let's give them credit where credit's due. They appreciate how much of their time is spent raising money to fill their campaign coffers and not spent working for the public interest. And, they will all be able to vote in the lame duck for the new version of the Fair Elections Now Act, H.R. 6116.)

4. Senator Barack Obama on public financing of campaigns in 2006...
“The whole issue of money in politics is one that I’m constantly struggling with because my preference would be that we got public financing of campaigns and nobody has to raise money whatsoever.”
- Sen. Barack Obama, (D-IL), National Public Radio, October 20, 2006

5. Presidential candidate Obama on public financing of congressional elections in 2007...
“I also believe that if we’re serious about change, we need to have a real discussion about public financing for congressional elections. Because even if we can stop lobbyists from buying us lunch or taking us out on junkets, they’ll still be able to attend our fundraisers – and that’s access the average American doesn’t have.”

— Barack Obama, August 2, 2007.
