It's a great video... but I have to wonder if, in a similar circumstance, CNN would have characterized Laura Bush as "getting down."

I used that phrase in the 80s. I'd consider it slang but not street lingo, as someone earlier in this thread did.

You're right that the media would not have said that Laura Bush was getting down but that was because she is stiff and would not have gotten into the dancing the same way.
