Do Democrats have a strategy to counter Repubs for next two years?
Or is their plan simply to react to John Boehner and the Tea Baggers? After all, we still have the Senate and the White House.

Perhaps they should try to go on the offensive?

How about a call to freeze porkbarrel spending going to the different states? Maybe they should point out how much the Repubs spent the last time they were in power, with bridges to nowhere, etc?

Perhaps they should call for restraint on spending on office expenses, franking privileges, etc?

Perhaps the Democrats might want to point out that the Repubs want to cut the neediest people, the poor, the unemployed, and the elderly, while they give taxcuts to the wealthy and the corporations?

Focus on Republican spending like a laser. Because they always spend like drunken sailors while they talk about cutting spending.

Maybe it is time to stop playing defense and go on the offensive? Maybe?

1. More importantly, do liberals have a plan to become much more publicly involved?
Stop depending on the political system to do your dirty work for you - become the change yourself.

2. Why do we vote?
Simply because all of us cannot get under the roof of the Capitol?

3. Liberals need to get more involved in their communities.
They need to start selling the benefits of liberal policies to the rest of the public.

A vote can't make that happen.

4. Can't argue with getting more involved.
Democracy at the common denominator.

6. That is an entirely differnt subject. And liberals are the most
involved group of people in the communities of America already. And even if they become even more involved, the Professional Democrats would still need to have their own strategy, liberal community involvment is excellent, but it does not replace organized leadership in the Congress and in the WH, not in any way, shape or form.
Your replies are like someone saying 'who's going to repair the hole in the roof?' and you saying 'the baby needs a bottle'. Both might be true, and feed the damn baby, but we still have to get someone up on that roof with a hammer.

8. I think you're missing the point.
My point is mobilizing and becoming specifically active in promoting liberal policies. That means organizing, perhaps protesting, but overall it's something that needs to be done within everyone's community. And it ENHANCES leadership in Congress and in the WH. Liberalism needs to be recaptured and redefined within American political culture.

17. Liberal protests aren't covered on tv.
I'm not saying "don't do anything other than complain", but the Iraq war protests had minimal dismissive coverage.

10. Then why isn't it working?
If the Democrats are not leading you well enough, vote for Republicans! Jesus on a trailer hitch!

11. So all you have to do is vote and that's the end of it
Maybe if you actually ran for and won an office you'd see what was involved.

13. It's hard seeing how the house dems can regain their status without undercutting the president if he
tries to make deals with repubs.

14. So far, it seems like they are continuing the existing "policy" of kissing up to the GOP
and blaming other Democrats for any problems with the Party's popularity.
