1. There will be gridlock which will slow down anything from being done on the

economy. And yes, I agree with you, that it will grow on it's own, especially after the "Bush tax cuts" expire. And the record SHOULD SHOW that the republicans had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT since they are gridlocking the government.

2. Republicans are not going to deal...because they think they can get...

everything they want. If the Bush Tax Cuts are allowed to expire, they can write a new wave of Tax Cuts and claim in 2012 that they cut taxes and Obama and Democrats enacted or "unacted" the highest tax hike in history.

I think all the tax cuts will expire and Republicans will pass a monstrous tax cut bill by February 15, and dare Democrats to not pass it.

3. The thing is that I can see the economy growing rapidly in the next two years with unemployment

going down quite a bit--and Obama will get credit for it in '12--but the GOP will try to say that they are the ones because they got the house! but I don't think it will work--though some people do like the idea of one party having the white house and the other having the congress.

The Democrats did pass a couple of things that might of helped it. Extending unemployment benefits, small business bill, and financial reform bill are more than nothing.

Your point of doing nothing is a good one. Don't give the Republicans shit and they won't be able to claim they did anything to make it better.

Unless we accelerate economic growth, unemployment will remain high and voters will remain angry.
