2010 Midterms 4 BILLION DOLLAR election
1.6 Billion spent/raised for/by REPUBLICANS

and 2.4 BILLION spent/raised for/by DEMOCRATS

I'm surprised the DEMS outspent/outraised the Pubs... I'd love to see a breakdown of where the Corporate $$ went.

3. some websites show a DEM advantage and some show Repub advantage
it's a matter of calculating all the corporate $$, 527 $$, PAC money, Labor union $$, etc......

As of today, the Center calculates that Republicans have raised $1.64 billion to Democrats’ $1.59 billion. These figures include money raised by candidates and parties, and the money reported by outside organizations. The party split for outside money include independent expenditures on behalf of or against Democrats or Republicans; electioneering communications based on the general ideological leanings of the organization; and receipts by 527 organizations that are not already included elsewhere.

from what I understand this doesn't include money that the DEMS had prior to the cycle or money raised outside sources:

$400 million
Amount raised by outside interest groups such as "Super PACs" and labor unions.

$2
Amount conservative groups have spent on advertising for every $1 spent by liberal groups

$87.5 million
Projected amount spent by labor union the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, primarily on Democratic candidates and concerns. It is the biggest outside spender in the midterms.

$75 million
Projected amount spent by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, primarily on Republican candidates and concerns

$109 million
Amount donated to political candidates, parties, and interest groups by retirees. These donations "slightly favor" Republicans, says the CRP

$102.8 million
Amount donated to political candidates, parties, and interest groups by lawyers and law firms. These donations favor Democrats by a ratio of 3 to 1

$141.6 million
Amount California GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman has spent on her own campaign, as of October 22

8. I think I understand the confusion from the radio show host
he said the election was 4 billion and the republicans raised 1.6B so he assumed that the Dems raised the other 2.4B.

After a few hours of research, it looks like it's about even with DEMS bringing in more corporate $$ and PAC $$ and Repubs getting more $$ from individuals.
