About the f'ing Chamber! Tell me I'm wearing a tinfoil hat!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tom-donohue/americans-voted-for-jobs_b_777982.html

Calling for jobs. Now. After the election. I understand that demand has been low, but what the fuck?

My question is this: Did the Chamber discourage hiring until after the GOP increased their power?

Tell me I'm in a fog. Tell me these jackasses aren't this despicable!

3. Actually, let me let you in on a little secret...
my husband was notified in September that his company is closing his site. This will be his third layoff in four years.

And guess where he is? In Shanghai. Training his replacements.

For me, my husband has been a hostage to this disgusting gamesmanship.

5. they are evil
way back when Lou Dobbs was on his rant about outsourcing America (Bush and Cheney yrs) every-night he would bring up a list of the 1000's that were leaving the country.Business was not to happy, they couldn't understand why Lou had become a populist, was it do to ratings. Donahue went on his show, explained how outsourcing was good for business, said how he was going to put up millions to beat the Democrats.
Dobb's show after focused on all the evil Mexican's were crossing border.

8. If they did, it wouldn't be beneath them
Preserving wealth was the goal and they needed to win the election to do that.

10. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE IT UP TO A BUSY DOCTORAL STUDENT TO ORGANIZE!
We sit there and bitch and whine about politicians doing nothing about this. But where are WE? Why aren't we vocal? Why aren't we protesting? Petitioning? Why doesn't the middle class radicalize?

Where are the folks who have the time to do this? I would, if I could, lead a movement to do something about these rapers of middle class wealth. Enough. We need to mobilize.

Who is willing to actually take the steps necessary to accomplish this. WHO???

16. If you want to get the attention of The Powers That Be, hit them in their wallets.
Refuse to buy their over-priced foreign made junk. Demand retailers to stock American made products. Buy local where possible.

Americans who buy imported junk support the corporations, and make it profitable for the corporations to offshore jobs.

11. I thought it was obvious, same reason why the banks aren't (weren't) lending.
These are still Bush/Cheney era people. It wasn't that long ago, remember? They just sat on the cash George W. gave them on his way out the door, backdoored into one of Karl's new secret groups sanctified under the Citizens United ruling. Now, with their boys back in charge, lending will finally free up and the economy will improve (although it has been steadily improving for months now), and they'll take credit for it just in time for the 2012 election.

15. Because they own and operate the economy?
Nothing new about that. Nasty, but not exceptional behavior. The middle class is not going to revolt against their employers. They want to keep their jobs such as they are.

17. There is absolutely no question about the corporate conspiracy you posit. The fact that this wasn't
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 07:40 AM by lib_wit_it
wasn't widely suspected, exposed, and punished is a testament to the ineptitude and naiveté--or the complicity--of the Democratic leadership. I went to the One Nation rally, but Glenn Beckkk's Civil Wrongs Mob-a-Rama & Jon Stewart's Rally to Keep False Equivalencies Alive & Bash The Outraged were bigger draws.

Face it, we're doomed.

18. No conspiracy. The chamber has been calling for job creation measures all along
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 07:45 AM by onenote
They -- and the repubs -- think tax cuts are job creation measures. Democrats, and a lot of economists, disagree

20. The Chamber Ain't What It Used to Be
and while they may have be calling for job creation measures all along, it doesn't mean they are sincere, considering all the outsourcing advice they give to foreign clients.

21. agreed, but that wasn't the point
The point was that those suggesting that the chamber is part of some conspiracy in that it waited until after the election to begin calling for job creation are mistaken in thinking that the chamber wasn't calling for repub job creation measures all along.
