5. "Bat wielding loon threatens Cuomo"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x521878

Is that the kind of thing you have in mind?

I expect he will make some conciliatory noises. We lost the house, he is not going to insult the voters.

But that doesn't mean he is going to do every crazy shit thing Boehner comes up is.

Bipartisanship? That's so 2008. The era of bipartisanship is over, and if Obama holds out another f***ing olive branch, I will be one of those in favor of a primary fight in 2012.

Sounds good. Question will be can D's and R's move forward together to solve problems, and he thinks they can and will although it will be tough. He's doing a good job of pinning them R's against the wall with what they should focus on.

38. The POTUS isn't Jesus Christ
The POTUS also isn't Gandhi, or MLK or any other pacifist that was assassinated for being too nice. He's supposed to be a goddamned politician and a leader who can give and take a beating for the good of the country.

If he wants to be a goddamned sainted martyr, he needs to find another line of work. The Dems lost because of their inability to govern.

48. No...
The Dems lost because they failed in messaging. They failed to pin the blame for the depression on Bush and the rethuglican tax cuts. They lost because they continue to support the wars which suck the life out of our economy (Econ 101 guns vs. butter). They lost because the proclaimed RECOVERY! when there wasn't any and refused to "bring up the past" and correlate the rethugs actions with the direct results of the depression.

factor is to ignore other realities across the country.

77. See you just proved my point
If you actually read my post, I said that the economy is in a depression and the reason the Dems lost is because they insist on denying it and taking credit for a mild (nonexistent) recovery, instead of pinning the blame on Bush and the rethuglicans who started it.

If you can't understand this fact, how is the average voter going to get it unless Obama screams it from the rooftops? Sheesh.

so you could not hear their actual non-plan so now the President is telling them you wanted to be in charge then get to it but you will own ALL your crap, you can't blame NO ONE in 2012. Not only that they will be shown to not give a care about you or anyone like you, you are on your own, btw we are want to cut your SS/Medicare so you will be dead in 2012 so you can't vote me out.

If my son gets it, so does the President. Boner tried to say they will be working the President's agenda but he put the light on them that THEY will be responsible and held accountable.

If R's have ideas for jobs that we haven't looked at or tried, we want to hear them. Setting R's up with a weight on their shoulders to actually do something.

election results if we decided to refight battles from past two years.

Using examples of cancer patients receiving care and children not being dropped as basic reasons we shouldn't change the HC bill.

If R's can truly decrease costs without cutting vital parts of the bill, O wants to hear them.

55. Question about tax cuts. Are you willing to negotiate on tax cuts eg: raise limit to $1mil.etc..?
How does it feel to have lost so big? "It feels bad!" - Hardest thing is seeing great public servents not serving anymore. It's hard and I take responsibility, but they say they have no regrets bc they were doing the right thing.

Tax cuts: My goal is to be sure we don't have a huge spike in taxes for middle class families. It would be bad for our economy. Very important to not take money out of system from people most likely to spend that money. Also why unemployment insurance is important. Right thing for economy as a whole.

My goal is to sit down with R's and D's and see where we can move foreward in a way that does no harm, extends middle class tax cuts, and extend provisions that help businesses progress. How that works out is too tough to say at this point. We're not going to play brinksmanship, we're going to negotiate.

68. Asked if he'll have to tell his base that he won't be able to repeal DADT, he said
the study will be finished soon and DADT is wrong, and basically said that he expects to get it done during the lame duck session. :bounce:

"I want to HEAR those ideas."

72. How do you get business off sidelines and to stop hoarding trillions?
O: We've struggled with this. Business need rules and need to treat customers fairly, but they also need to create profits. Free market must be nurtured and cultivated.

"still seem engaged with the American people."

My Tip: Go on Jon Stewart once a month! :)

79. "If Republicans have some good ideas, I'm happy to consider those ideas"
Yup. Same old, same old from this President.

Thank you, Professor Obama: Capitulator In Chief.

And now the victim is appealing for common ground with rapists.

84. I wouldn't go that far. But Obama has said the same thing on more than one occasion
That tells me that he STILL doesn't get it.

Great quote from another poster: we needed a flaming sword, but we got a limp noodle! So true.

85. I kind of expected
Him to do this. As I said, it seems there is no progressivism left in the United States - it's all in favor of appeasing those who would not hesitate to attack you, which is what Boner will be doing. Boner would have been doing this if he were president or if McCain were president. There would be no bipartisanship. We've seen what bipartisanship can do - now let's see what progressivism can do.

80. The feckless media got what they wanted when Obama said he 'took a shellacking.'
It's the first thing the establishment Andrea MItchell rushed to gloat over! They are so sad.

81. You are right they identify with the aggressive bully Republicans
Since they identify with aggressive bullies they have a sense of vicarious victory when someone they absolutely know is better and smarter than they are is seemingly taken down a peg or a notch. Thing is that he has not been taken down a notch, they have. I looked around that room and saw some very smug faces. David Gregory was gleeful. I think he will fight, the press conference was not the place to do that. If I am wrong I am wrong we will see. He was strong, he did not make excuses and he stood tall. I am proud to support Obama, particularly today.
