Could it have depressed nominal Republican turnout through assumption that it was in the bag?
Could Media Report have scared the stuffing out of the Base?

8. I can't get the video of that head-stomping out of my mind,
and that (along with KO's special comment last week that showcased the huge extent of teabagger insanity, and Sara Robinson's piece on how countries slide into fascism), has made me REAL motivated to get out and vote, even though I am sick to DEATH of Dem spinelessness and their ever-more-obvious corporatism.

9. Me too.... and I've also encouraged all my Dem friends to make sure they vote as well.
You'd be surprised how many people don't take the time to vote. With encouragement, they will often go. I'm sure some of them said they would just so I would get off their backs, but I'm also sure others did who wouldn't have.

2. They are counting on history.....
Historically, the party occupying the whitehouse in the mid-terms loses an average of 46 seats in the house. That would give the repubs the house and they would shout it from the rooftops, even if they failed to make that benchmark. We beat em in 98, we can do it again!

3. It's been painful to hear the media narrative, but it may heavily boost Democratic turnout. nt

4. I have wondered that also
I think a whole lot of moderate republicans don't want to vote for the teabagger candidate, and if they can justify not going to the polls because it is going to be such a "landslide", they just might stay home. I think that's how Miller won in Alaska, most republicans thought it was in the bag for Murkowski and didn't bother to go vote! I also think that the left has a much better GOTV program than the right, and that is going to help also!

5. I'd like to think so, but let's get real, folks
We will still lose the House. It's going to happen. Let's not have unrealistic expectations (as if that is not going to be the name of the game here around 8 or 9 pm). It won't have been a conspiracy or fraud: we're going to lose the House. Let's just hope it's not by the numbers they are predicting.

7. Yea...

Lots of folks are a bit deluded in here, but that's the precursor for the 'they stole the election' threads that will start up by midnight tonight.

The house is gone and the higher voter turnout means nothing this year. 1994 was a huge voter turnout and it swept in Gingrich and his merry bastards.

The US House is gone. 50+ seats is likely.

But if we can save a few Senate seats (Russ, etc)...and keep it low 50s in the house (or a dream of 40 something) then we'll be fine.

If Feingold type Dems lose then all hell will break loose and the DLC will be totally out in force, because most of the Dems that will lose are blue dogs.

11. It might have helped here in Mid-TN..
My polling place was dead - this morning when they opened for the wife and this afternoon when I went by - zero waiting. The Repubs think they have this one wrapped up without having to show up. May it come back to bite them!
