2. The title reflects the Republican spin
Overall, more of the early voters have been Democrats. They also point out that this is true even with a Palin rally - that very likely encouraged early voting.

It is also possible that yesterday's ad nonsense will spur more Hispanics to vote against the Republicans, who they will see as trying to suppress their vote. (Reid might need to get Shakira or an American Hispanican musician to have a big rally for him - as a GOTV)

4. K&R...not the first time I read somthing similar.....

"The GOP hasn't made a similar coordinated effort, but it may not need to. Preliminary returns from key early-voting states suggest that Democrats are outpacing Republicans, or at least holding their own, in initial returns in some key states. Two large Democratic counties in Ohio have reported a surge in early ballots." but from a different source.....I believe we have a great GOV going on as it did durring the Obama campaign....

on edit: that makes three sources......

7. This is drivel, building a mountain of theory on a molehill of fact.
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 08:29 AM by bemildred
And the molehill of fact (early voting is running 46-39 for Democrats in Las Vegas, whereas the early turnout favors Republicans in Reno 47-40) does not support the theory.

election day

11. Does not "look like" anything.
People are emotionally involved, yes. And they have hopes and fears, yes. But what will actually happen remains to be seen, will be seen when people do or do not go an vote.

8. I'm not convinced he is behind in early voting based on their stats
Many more vote have been cast in Clark County than in Washoe County:

Some 47 percent of early voters in the bellwether Washoe County so far have been Republicans, while 40 percent have been Democrats, according to the Washoe County Registrar. Nearly 11,000 people had voted in Washoe over the first three days of early voting, which began Saturday.

Out of the nearly 47,000 votes cast in Clark County, 46 percent were Democrats, 39 percent Republicans, according to the Clark County Election Department. But while Democrats make up 46 percent of the county's registered voters, Republicans constitute just 33 percent.

It should be pointed out that prior to Obama early voting or absentee voting strongly favored republicans--Dems generally waited until election day. In some cases these patterns may return with Obama not on ballot, but based on the statistics that politico supplied it can't be determined that Reid is behind because In Clark County 47,000 have voted and Dems lead 46-39 while in Washoe only 11,000 have voted and the GOP leads 47-40. I think it's just politico and the media trying to stir the pot.

14. Reports of early voting results are pretty much worthless.
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 09:19 AM by FBaggins
And that's whether they're good or bad.

They can give some sign of enthusiasm, but even that is iffy (and we already knew there was an enthusiasm issue).

The only time they make a difference is when some major event/gaffe occurs after those votes are cast that could have changed their minds.
