6. You mean Harry I Dropped the Bomb And Then Escalated The Cold War Truman and...
Jack I Only Half-Assed It On Civil Rights Kennedy?

There is a point to this. I obviously do not believe Jackson was the last Democratic president.

14. The Trail of Tears
was a horror.

Maybe the original poster's point was that there is no perfect President.

FDR is a hero of mine, but he did allow Japanese American citizens to be interned. His wife didn't approve, but I think FDR wanted to keep the majority of Americans united against the Axis. Doing the right thing by the Japanese Americans would have divided the Democrats and the country.

As someone has pointed out, Harry Truman dropped 2 atomic bombs on Japan. I'm old enough to understand that decision. I had an uncle and a first cousin fighting in the Pacific. The first cousin was a radio man and although he survived the war with no major physical injuries, he was, as my mother said, "never the same after the war."

Most historians believe that hundreds of thousands more Americans and Japanese would have died had the war continued along conventional lines. Look at how hard the Germans fought at the end and how many Americans and Germans died in the last months of that theater of war. The Japanese would have fought even harder. They were teaching women and children how to fight in that last summer. Just watch Ken Burns' series on World War II to understand where Truman was coming from.

16. Frances...
You show that no president is perfect. Every president has done some questionable things. It comes with power and responsibility. You can't justify it - hell, you don't even need to accept it. But we all know there isn't going to the pure president. Someone who does everything right in every crisis.

LBJ got caught in the swamp of Vietnam.

But domestically, they have all been Corporate Conservatives since then.

generals.

They all suck.

I say we let the anarchists have their chance.

21. Uh....
Andrew Jackson, that great Indian butcher? Who championed the spoils system? Ignored the Supreme Court when he felt like it? Shut down the Bank of the United States? Who regretted not killing VP Calhoun?

Sorry, no.

22. Jackson? Really? The inventor of the spoils system and responsible of Indian removal and the Trail
of tears.

Not exactly whom I would call a great president.

Let's talk about Kennedy or Johnson (though I disagree with their foreign policies)

How could any decent Irishman ignore that?

Not to mention, not only was Jackson a slave holder, but he promised slaves their freedom if they fought for him at the Battle of New Orleans, then reneged on the deal.
