Rep. Grayson tells Cheney to 'STFU'
Rep. Grayson tells Cheney to 'STFU'
By Eric Zimmermann - 12/09/09 06:02 PM ET

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) has done it again.

Appearing on MSNBC's "Hardball" Wednesday night, the Florida Democrats used a colorful acronym to respond to Dick Cheney's criticisms of President Obama.

"You know, on the internet there's an acronym that's used to apply to situations like this. It's called 'STFU.' I don't think I can say that on the air, but I think you know what that means," Grayson said.

That acronym is short for "Shut the f**k up."

Last night, Cheney had lashed out at President Obama's decision to give Khalid Sheikh Mohammed a civilian trial in federal court.

"He'll be as important or more important than Osama bin Laden," Cheney said about the plotter of 9/11. "And we will have made it possible. We will have given him that platform, that opportunity, to come here and there is absolutely no need to do that."

Cheney also accused Obama of giving "aid and comfort to the enemy."

1. "Shut."
Tweety asked him to say what the first part of STFU was.

15. Now, in Tweety's defense
newscasters are supposed to ask seemingly stupid questions like that, even if they know the answers, for the benefit of their audience members who may not be familiar with acronyms and other terms.

17. That exchange was reminiscent
of the broadcast conversation between ground control and an orbiting astronaut; somebody in Houston asked the astronaut, "Are you a turtle?"

2. LOL! I saw that ... Tweety was a little slow on the uptake.
:spray: Tweety asked Grayson to clue him in on what "the S" in STFU stood for.

What a maroon! :P

6. I just don't follow Cheney and the other clusterfucks insistence not to try them in the US.
It is my understanding that American courts have jurisdiction over American citizens committing crimes even in some cases in other countries. In the latter the jurisdiction lays within the federal courts which are in the US. I don't agree with the jurisdiction over actions in other countries.

And American courts have jurisdiction over those not American citizens when they commit a crime in the USA. Those crimes are either in local or federal courts.

Except now, since Bush they want trials held outside the USA when in the past trials were always held within the district that the crime was committed.
