CA Gov--Whitman pumps in another $20 million of her own $$--up to $141.5 million
California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman (R) "contributed an additional $20 million to her campaign this week -- bringing the total she has spent so far on her run to $141.5 million," California Beat reports.

"The contribution only adds to an already record-shattering total -- no other American candidate has ever spent so much of his or own wealth in an attempt to get elected as the former eBay executive has."

3. I am absolutely disturbed and the money spent and how it could have been used
Just think if she had used just a small raaction of that money to help make her maid a legal US citizen?

Think about the possitive impact she would have had if she used $100million of it to do the following for California such as feed the hungry, help people keep their homes or create jobs with a new business.

And seriously how unpopular are you if you have to spend close to $150million of your own money and you're still falling behind your opponent.

9. Just think of all the nonprofit charity organizations that could have put that money to good use
How many homeless shelters could use an influx of, say, a million dollars? Think what a measly $50,000 grant to a crisis center could accomplish. Low income child care centers? Teen and senior centers?. The list is long.

21. Meg & Charity
I agree with your post 100%, it is absolutely disgusting how much she has spent for her own EGO. The good that amount of money could accomplish in a state that is suffering so much financial hardship is hard to comprehend.

Another question I have - where are all the millions that the GOP is throwing at candidates like her? Why does NutMeg need have to pony up her own 140+ million?

I wish that we could say that the money she spent went into the state and helped SOMETHING, but sadly all it did was make Faux and other conservative advertisers richer, so they in turn can donate to yet more unqualified GOPers.

Perhaps while they are feeding their own they will eat their own and we can be done with this nonsense and get down to governing this country.

supreme court. don't for a minute think someone isn't going to pony up a billion dollars one day to be president. there are plenty of people who have it to spare, and they will look fabulous in 3D HDMI.

I hope Californians turn to Brown in very large numbers.
