I sat next to an AZ Republican today
Flying between San Diego and Phoenix, I struck up a conversation with my seat mate. The conversation turned to politics when she asked if I was voting for Meg for governor of California. As the conversation progressed, I expressed with disappointment with Obama, said that I had planned to sit out the election because of Obama's betrayal and that of so many other Democrats but finally caved in.

The lady then told me she was a Republican and she defended Obama!!!!! However, when I asked if under any circumstances she would vote for him or a Democrat, she said no. She almost didn't vote in the 2008 election because of Palin but she would simply have not voted rather than vote for a Democrat.

This is only one incident but it reinforces my disappointment with Obama who plays to the very voters who would never vote for him!

Now how dumb is that!

2. Who's betraying the Dem party most?
Obama or you? I think Obama is voting.

Not really trying to rag on you, it just seems kinda ironic you talking about Obama's betrayal, but you are not gonna vote. To me, not voting is the same as not caring. In my 55 yrs, I have never missed a vote and I have never voted for a republican. Yeah, I've held my nose before while voting, but I always vote. Please don't sit this election out. I'm not sure my heart could stand to weather another republican administration right now.

5. I think these posters think they're punishing Obama or the Dem party.
In reality they are punishing themselves and other citizens. When they do so... I don't want to hear any complaints after the election.

3. What exactly is "Obama's betrayal"...?
Is it the fact that he has to work in a real world not in a fantasy one? I'm a Democrat and I support Obama...I don't like to write angry things but people need to get over their feeling that Obama is their own personal President - he's the President to everyone and so has to work on an agenda that benefits the majority and has to work with the reality of a 24/7 opposition news cycle and an almost 100% opposition party who've been playing politics since he was elected. You need to wake up to reality before we lose what we have.

All it will do is help the wrong side. You will not get voting perfection ever.

Short sighted and childish is your stance.

12. I sat in a room with 6 other women...
all staunch liberals. You know, the "fucking retards" or whatever Rahm called us. Anyway, as aggravated as we all are with Obama, because of the failure of healthcare, the failure to help the GLBT community, the failure to help the poor in a meaningful way...there are many, many positives that Obama has accomplished, and that he needs a solid Democratic majority to continue to work on. So we sat, one afternoon, and wrote cards out, and sent them to women all over the country, urging them to vote.

LOL. Some people want to enable the GOP.

You must have felt so great dissing Obama with a Repub.

And as a woman, how do you feel enabling all these men who think you should keep your rapist's baby? No self-respecting woman should sit this election, particularly when the choice is between a pro-choice woman and some dinosaur.

for Brewer? That's what I want to know.

As far as your disappointment with Obama - that's your problem. As far as that lady - anytime a repug sits out an election is fine with me.

What's dumb is for you to expect DU folks to believe this story. If you are a real Democratic supporter, for us to believe that you would sit out an election which may run Palin against President Obama........well, you must think we are :silly:

I noticed you didn't mention any of his successes but I suppose those dont' count because they are not specific to your agenda that's if you have a Democratic agenda.

that may be doing a good job? If you don't want to vote for your Senator or Congressperson, fine, but to not vote at all doesn't make sense if there's actually some folks on your ballot that are doing a good job.
