Making matters worse, Iott's little troupe said it was created in part to "salute" the "idealists" and "front-line soldiers of the Waffen-SS" and their "basic desire to be free." It also characterizes Wiking volunteers as "valiant men," overlooking the minor detail that they also rounded up Jews to be slaughtered.

Apparently unable to think of a compelling defense, Republicans, by mid-day yesterday, pretended not to know the candidate they recruited for the race.

I heard from DCCC spokesperson Ryan Rudominer yesterday, who said, "Message to John Boehner and the House Republican leadership: the least you can do is apologize and take full responsibility for recruiting and then embracing a Nazi enthusiast running for Congress, instead of remaining silent and deceiving voters by sweeping it under the rug. The extremist and fatally flawed candidates that House Republicans have been propping up speak volumes about the reckless leadership they're offering voters."

1. Too bad the Rethug leadership doesn't accept

messages unless they're on the memo space of a check from their corporate overlords.

2. The Nazi/Waffen SS portrayal is an effort to expand the GOP base to

include the American Nazis and other fascists who consider the republicns too liberal. The GOP version of "the big tent".

They have no shame or scruples and are interested only in power and money.

4. Actually the GOP is now very much a parallel of the Nazi party in its formative years -

enlisting RW ignorant thugs as base, along with rich industrialists for financial support. Few took them seriously till they were in power, and they seized power from their minority party status in the national parpiament in response to an "attack" by leftists and foreigners that the Nazis themselves engineered and created.

They developed a huge police and surveillance network on their own people, gained support of all the major manufacturing and financial groups and began forced work programs for the working people
who were not in the military.

7. I used to joke that I wasn't qualified for public service....

...as I couldn't pass the background check. Apparently thing have changed. I can now run for office, but only as a Republican.
