Post your November, 2010 election forecast here
Edited on Sun Oct-03-10 10:21 AM by Mefistofeles
Nate Silver, Larry Sabato and Charlie Cook have their numbers out there for everyone to hold them accountable. They predict House losses in the mid-40's and 6-8 Senate losses for the Democratic Party. Now each of us here has an opportunity to prove we're better than these ridiculous "experts" by posting our own forecast.

How many seats will Democrats or Republicans win in November, depending on your predictions in the House and in the Senate?

1. Dems gain 2 senate seats, lose 5 house.
Actually, the only thing I'm sure about is that there will be literal riots by the right wingers, if they don't have overwhelming wins. If they only pick up a few seats, there will be those who claim that this is a clear sign that the Dems cheated at the polls somehow.

24. Wow, what a defeatist, wussy attitude
And it's dead wrong. We will lose neither house. The Dems will stay in power.

That doesn't mean things will get any easier, but we won't lose.

6. I've been thinking the same thing
Even if the dems lose some seats in both, but we'll also pick up some seats in both. I'm thinking net gains for the dems when it's all over, and we keep both houses.

7. We will narrowly hold on to both the House and the Senate.
But the GOP will pick up enough votes in the Senate to be able to basically stop anything that they want to including judicial appointments. The Democrats will be left with such a narrow majority on the House that a few Blue Dogs together with the GOP will have the ability to wreck havoc in that body.

8. Dems win
Repubs just SEEM like they are going to take seats because they are so loud. The regular average american still remembers the rape of the bush years. They have no intention of going back.

Remember the gap between the rich and poor is as large as it has ever been. That's a LOT of poor votes who don't like the republican "you're on your own" BS.

12. Around 20-25 losses in the House and 3-4 Senate seats lost altogether.
And the infighting will begin in earnest on the GOP's side when they realize that they are STILL the minority after all the screaming, name-calling, and the oodles of money they spent.

13. That's what I think
It won't be the Dem bloodbath that many are predicting, but there will be losses. THe GOP will continue to obstruct, the Dems will continue to whine. KInd of like now.

obstructionism they will eat each other.

16. Dems hold House and Senate. Down 20-25 seats in House and 2-3 in Senate.
Republican failure to take the House, and disappointing results in many of their key Senate races will lead to an ugly fight within the GOP as the establishment and Tea Partiers blame each other for failure and struggle over the future direction of the party. Not much should be expected for legislation over the next two years, but as the economy improves the table will be set for a paradigm-shifting Democratic victory in 2012. That's when significant change and reform will be possible, including the potential to reshape the Supreme Court.

17. Lose 6 in the Senate, 30 in the House, but keep the house ... barely.
I think the Dems are starting to get their range on the campaign trail, and the GOP's gonna spend the next few weeks wondering why they're slipping in the polls.

They went full teatard. Never go full teatard!

Which will suck, but I think the GOP "wave" is exaggerated.

I expect Ds to lose 25 House seats offset by a few gains including the 8th in Washington where DelBene is closing the gap with Reichert and he is cancelling public appearances.

23. We keep the House and Senate (losing 25 seats and 5 seats, respectively).
We pull out WV, IL, CO, NV, WA, and either KY, MO or WI (in the Senate). I'd LOVE to see Glassman whip McCant's ass, but alas, I dream...

26. We WILL Keep The House & The Senate Losing Seats But Picking Up Another Senate Seat In Ohio!
In my state I also expect our Dem Governor Strickland to be re-elected, yet if Mary Ellen O'Shaughnessy does not win the Democratic Vacated SOS Position We Will Have Another 2004 Or Even Worse & Ohio will Definately Go to the Republican Candidate Bcuz The (R) SOS Candidate has already vowed to end early voting and he is an extreme right wing nut that is buddy buddy with DieBold and all the Electronic no paper trail vote industry.

Not to mention the fact additionally I have been working on the Ohio Attorney General Campaign hoping that the voters will keep our Democratic AG Incumbent Richard Cordray who has vowed to keep early voting while his opponent Mike Dewiner who we kicked out of the senate in 2006 here in Ohio has vowed to waste Millions of our tax dollars to join the frivoulous Healthcare Lawsuit!

I have been working my heart off here in Ohio as I expect most of you here on DU have been working equally as hard in your respective local, state and national races where you live.

But DU, if you think 2008 was important, 2010 is vital ly important because if we lose even the House, let alone lose the US Senate as well, we will never see any of our yet to be passed progressive agenda ever passed because just as they have been doing now, Republicans will block every single piece of Legislation until they completely shut the Government down.

If you can Contribute visit the Ohio Democratic Party Website to find the list of Candidates that are in very very tight races such as the US Senate Seat as well as the SOS Seat!

27. Ridiculous "experts?"
That sounds... err.... like something derisive that "the other side" would say.

My own prediction hasn't changed in a while. 6-8 Senate seats and too close to call for control of the house. Could still go either way (although the larger point is that the fact that we're even talking about losing that many seats is instructive- and was predictable based on the administration's and the Senate's acts and omissions over the course of the past 20 months).

Nate's current odds per the model are at one out of three chances to retain the House. I'd put it a bit closer than that per my guess.
