Will the Republicans new Contract on America work?
In the 1980s, under Gingrich, the so-called Contract with America was, sadly, very popular. It won the Republicans a lot of votes and gave the Republicans a mission, and they certainly succeeded in helping the wealthy and many of the middle class, while hurting the poor. Now they have a Pledge to America and promise to repeal health care reform, cap spending, make all bills available on line 3 days before a vote, have each bill cite its constitutional basis, and other popular b.s. If the Dems don't have a good response, perhaps they're own pledge, then I fear that people may take to the simplistic reasoning of the Republicans as they did in the 1980s. The Republicans are very good at marketing, and with Fox as their official mouthpiece, they will get 24 hours a day of free promotion.

5. The Conservative idea that you can get something for nothing sells...
It makes me wonder if most life in the U.S. is really just a clever form of fungus rather than truly intelligent beings.

4. Reminds me of that cap
that has two bills, one going 45 degrees to the right, one going 45 degrees to the left, and the front has the caption, "I am their Leader! Which way did they go??!"

Just establishment Republicons trying to pretend that they have tea party spirit, but it will probably work.

7. Will it work?
Are you serious?

That's not the question to ask. The question to ask is whether Americans will be stupid enough to fall for their bullshit again.

If the answer is yes, it may be for the last time for a lot of people teetering on the edge of financial or health ruin.

8. At least they're not trotting out term limits again
I'd say they were in breach of contract for not honoring that one.

9. These contract are BS it's just a campaign gimmick so was the original.
Repubs have a habit of doing things like this going all the way back to Truman's first midterm with that stupid clean sweep of the government campaign. The media keeps falling for it time after time saying it's their manifesto that win elections rather than the sour political climate for the democrats. So to clarify first it was the bad polls for dems then it was their campaign gimmick and I'll bet that in 1994 their party was more popular with the public and that transferred over to their so called contract.
