Susan Collins...advocates against DADT!
Edited on Tue Sep-21-10 01:04 PM by vaberella
I don't like her, but she came through. She's defending for the repeal of DADT! Okay so she's advocating for also Repubs to add amendments. Oy. She supports the bill, but also wants her people to talk.

I take this back..Update: She will vote for the bill but she needs her peeps to debate. She's a confusing speaker. For fucks sake!!

4. Her statement said that she was for the repeal, but only after the DoD review is completed.
So, repeal, but not yet.

6. Yes, but she would vote for her anyway...since it was everything she demanded.
However, she does say it's unfair not to have them put in Amendments.

I saw this morning.

Now, if she changed her mind since then, I wont complain, but I will wait until she votes without holding my breath.

Susan Collins made an impassioned plea on behalf of repealing the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday morning. But, said Collins, a Republican from Maine, she would filibuster the defense authorization bill that includes the repeal, dealing the cause a major blow. Collins has been the Democrats' primary target in their effort to persuade a Republican Senator to join them to break a GOP filibuster of the defense-spending bill.

8. The vote has been pushed back to 3:30, MAYBE due to some "backroom dealing"
according to Luke Russert. MAYBE it will NOT be filibustered!

12. It WAS supposed to be at 2:30, which is why I posted the change in time,
hopefully it has been pushed back because some progress is being made.

15. She's pulling the same old "Oh I would vote to repeal it but
not before the results of the study are in (i.e. February or March) that Snowe uses. Trying to have it both ways - keep the Dems and moderate Rethugs (if there still are any) off her back while kicking the can down the road. She (and they) know that if this momentum is thwarted then it will be years before any similar initiative will be back in Congress. Killing it kindly.:puke:

I think I read that someone said something to a crowd right outside her office like, yesterday. Contact your Senators indeed.....

18. Fuck Susan Collins! Don't Fall For Her Tired Fucking Act
Yeah, she'll get headlines that she supports the bill, but when it comes down to a vote, she will vote against it, citing minor bullshit in the bill.

She aint no fucking moderate, independent senator. She's just as hard right as the rest of them.
