Russert implies NYT's article about Boehner can't be so 'cause he came from such 'humble beginnings'
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 07:08 AM by flpoljunkie
What a brown-noser! On MSNBC's Morning Joe, Luke Russert was given a tour of the old Boehner family home and talked about how John Boeher was one of 12 children raised in a Catholic family--who, because he worked so hard putting himself through Xaxier in seven years, believes in self-reliance...blah, blah, blah...

That's right because he came from such 'humble beginnings' he cannot be the lobbyist tool he is (famous for handing out tobacco company lobbyist checks on the House floor in 1996).

He (Boehner) maintains especially tight ties with a circle of lobbyists and former aides representing some of the nation’s biggest businesses, including Goldman Sachs, Google, Citigroup, R. J. Reynolds, MillerCoors and UPS.

They have contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to his campaigns, provided him with rides on their corporate jets, socialized with him at luxury golf resorts and waterfront bashes and are now leading fund-raising efforts for his Boehner for Speaker campaign, which is soliciting checks of up to $37,800 each, the maximum allowed.

1. Little Russert got cushy internships at NBC while
other people's children went to fight a war his father helped the Bush Administration sell to the public.

4. On the contrary. I find that people who come from humble beginnings
sometimes feel like the world owes them all the luxuries they missed out on.

29. Very good point, James A. ... Tim Russert was such a salesman for Bushco.
A pox on his son, too, who is following in Daddy's Republican ass-kissing footsteps.

13. Hitler wasn't a house painter
He was an amateur artist who tried, and twice failed, to gain admission to the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Vienna. He probably should have had a safety school, but it's a sign of his vanity that, despite his extreme conventionality as an artist, he decided not to bother if he couldn't get into the most prestigious arts school in Austria.

8. You can be corrupted and start from humble beginnings and also
be wealthy and very much on the side of the poor. I mean, look at Teddy Kennedy. This is meaningless.

14. Apparently, Russert chose to ignore this glaringly obvious truth
He was on The Daily Rundown with an abbreviated version of his earlier Morning Joe homage to Boehner's 'humble beginnings.'

19. Yes, indeed. This is the third time this morning, by my count.
Russert does look a bit chagrined. He should be ashamed of his blatant brown-nosing, posing as journalism.

31. On 5th segment Russert says no doubt some of that 'meeting with lobbyists' stuff goes on but Boehner
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 02:39 PM by flpoljunkie
comes from a 'humble background.' Boehner gets 'both his charm and his heart from his father.' And, he played football while in pain. What a guy!

The Republican party doesn't need to promote his background, Luke, as you disingenuously suggest. You and MSNBC are doing a fine job for them! A shameless display, Russert!
