where is FIGHTER Obama?
to all the * ebil ebil Palin Palin * talking pointers....this is aimed at you.You want the progressive vote?...do this.

Have the President repeal DADT by executive order and dare them to fight it.

get the president ON TV FIGHTING the repuke mems instead of hiding.

Get the president ON THE FLOOR OF THE HOUSE twisting arms to hold the middle class tax cuts while expiring the cuts to the upper class.God Damn..how hard is it to fight for what's right.

SHUT GITMO like we were promised.The *congress wouldn't fund shutting it* bullshit is just that..bullshit.He can get them to pass a 1 TRILLION dollar deficit but he couldn't get 20 mill to move those guys?It shouldn't cost that...load them on a plane...I can charter a 747 for a WHOLE LOT LESS than 20 mill...ship them to levenworth....done.

I won't even go into how he promised no mandates and scewered Hillary over mandates then supported them bullshit

HE HAS THE BULLY PULPIT....USE IT!

Quit telling me to vote against repukes...I already will.Give voters a reason to be energized.We are worried about low turnout.There is a reason.We need things to vote for...NOT things to vote against.

RANT OFF

am not so sure some of your points wouldn't just make things worse.

18. How can it make things worse? Everything on the list is already horrible.
If he managed to get 1/2 of those things done he would put the country in a better position for the future.

4. HE CAN'T repeal DADT by EO. It was a law passed by congress & only congress can repeal it!
NO President ever "goes to the congressional floor" and fights. Think back. That's what the party's have whips for.

If you were in charge of shutting GITMO, where would you send the detainees? Some of their home countries don't want them, some have sworn they would execute them upon return, and by far the majority of Americans don't want them HERE.

I agree he should make better use of the bully pulpit and give up on the bipartisanship, but there's very little he is legally able to do alone.

6. read what I said
I said repeal DADT by EO and make them fight it in the courts showing they are a bunch of homophobes.Doesn't matter if he wins the battle in the long run...make them make a stand for once and show them as the homophobes they are

Of course presidents have went member to member in the house for what they want.That is what I want.I don't mean to literally go on the floor of the house and punch people out.He needs to use his power to influence the direction of the house.It has been done by damned near every president.

if I were in charge if GITMO they would have been in levenworth about..oh...18 months ago

14. Good question. We needed REVOLUTION after Dubya; instead, we got...
Mr. Compromise. Obama should be using the bully pulpit, particularly with Blue Dogs, to make certain positions (e.g., extending Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and cutting or privatizing Social Security) so unpopular that they WOULDN'T DARE support them. Twist arms, knock heads, make deals...whatever it takes. But Obama is nowhere near that radical community organizer/angry black man I heard so much about, unfortunately, he's just part of the club like the rest of them (but for a save few).

16. Assassination squads FTW!
If only the president would murder people wholesale, he would be loved!

Screw the laws, if he would just be willing to use his power to murder people, voters would be energized!

:sarcasm:

Presidents are not above the law.

They forget the whole reason we despise Bush is because he forgot the rule of law. But don't let that stop the crowd.

Then you sit on your stool in a daze while some orange colored guy beats the shit out of you. You don't even try to block the punches.

23. I find this post pathetic and childish.
It offers nothing for dialogue. And of courses uses the platform as though to say everything must be shouldered by Obama. And where are the "fighting" democrats. A few it would seem decided to become teabaggers---while on here they seem to think they're leaderless because Obama doesn't meet 'their' demands.

27. Hardly...I pay attention and have noted very well.
I just don't subscribe that Obama needs to "bash" in some heads in order to get things done. I'm not about a tyrannical leader because for all intents and purposes that's what people on here are demanding. From what I can tell---that's what you'd be pushing if you support this.

25. You're right.
People VOTE for politicians who get OUT FRONT and STAND for something.

"Strong and successful presidents (meaning those who get what they want - whether that happens to be good for the country or not) do not accept "the best deal on the table". They take out their carpentry tools and the build the goddam piece of furniture themselves. Strong and successful presidents do not get dictated to by the political environment. They reshape the environment into one that is conducive to their political aspirations."

http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/07/17

How did FDR get elected 4 times?
By FIGHTING for SOMETHING,
and welcoming "the hatred" of the opposition (Bankers and Wealthy Interests).

"In our day these economic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all—regardless of station, race, or creed.

Among these are:

*The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

*The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

*The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

*The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

*The right of every family to a decent home;

*The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

*The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

*The right to a good education.

All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

For unless there is security here at home there cannot be lasting peace in the world.--FDR

"If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for,
at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them."

--- Paul Wellstone

28. I have been loathe to say this
But I am surprised that the right hasn't set up a national security challenge for him so as to take advantage of the perception that he is weak and -- therefore -- unable to command the military.

That has been a nagging fear for me.

30. He's busy getting things accomplished
I know you wants you some fiery, finger-pointing, knock-em down, spittoon spittin', good ol' boy wrasslin'. But really, the man is busy working to right the economy, resume the efforts to achieve middle-east peace, wind down wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, implement the financial reform and health care bills he had the balls to put before Congress and get passed. He honestly doesn't have time to indulge the American male desire for violence and loudness. It's not who he is.

He did, however, give quite a firestorm of a Labor Day speech today in Milwaukee. You would have liked it.
