If you were in charge of shutting GITMO, where would you send the detainees? Some of their home countries don't want them, some have sworn they would execute them upon return, and by far the majority of Americans don't want them HERE.

I agree he should make better use of the bully pulpit and give up on the bipartisanship, but there's very little he is legally able to do alone.

Mr. Compromise. Obama should be using the bully pulpit, particularly with Blue Dogs, to make certain positions (e.g., extending Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and cutting or privatizing Social Security) so unpopular that they WOULDN'T DARE support them. Twist arms, knock heads, make deals...whatever it takes. But Obama is nowhere near that radical community organizer/angry black man I heard so much about, unfortunately, he's just part of the club like the rest of them (but for a save few).

But really, the man is busy working to right the economy, resume the efforts to achieve middle-east peace, wind down wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, implement the financial reform and health care bills he had the balls to put before Congress and get passed.
