These are the three races I'd concentrate most on winning...
The governorships of Florida, Texas and California. Polls in all three states have been close. The reason I think winning these three states is so pivotal is because they will be the big gainers in redistricting and we could use a Dem Governor in each of them to make sure the GOP doesn't divide them up in their favor.

Also if we want some bragging right on November 3 there is nothing like saying that the Dems won the governorships of the three biggest states of the union--even if we suffered major losses in the house and senate it would be something of a consolation.

I think we should spare no expense and work hard on gotv in each of them not only for governor but for state legislative races.

1. Not disputing what you're saying, but a few thoughts
While governors races are important locally, as a general matter I consider the House and Senate races more important. If we lose majority status in both houses of Congress it will be disastrous-even one house would create huge problems.

Second, if we are getting into governor's races, then the three states that you listed are indeed very important ones, and your reasons are well taken.

I would add one more state for different reasons: Arizona. According to Congressional Quarterly Arizona is leaning Republican, but after the debate and press conference I don't see how any sane person could consider voting for Brewer, and after she simply called it a night without answering the first question asked after the entire press corps present pushed her to answer it, I don't think she will be getting much favorable press coverage, certainly not locally.

Second, given the Arizona immigration law and surrounding controversy that Arizona has brought on itself, this is a race that has national and international significance in that it will effect how we are perceived internationally for some time.

2. "I don't see how any sane person could consider voting for Brewer, "
From what has been happening around the country, what we might call sanity is a rare commodity among the teabaggers and repukes.

3. True that.
Mark Twain once stated:

"Truth is once of the most valuable things we have. Therefore let us economize with it."

Looks like we could now say the same thing about sanity now.

4. I agree
Except possibly TX, which may be out of reach.

But from a redistricting standpoint, that's also the most important... so it's worth a run.

5. Florida amendment
There is an important amendment on the ballot if Florida. It is to stop gerrymandering. Strangley, that is probably more important than any race in Florida.
