1. No need to watch it.
My choice has already been decided. No need to torture myself.

10. I think most of us feel that way, as do Fiorina supporters
I listened while doing household chores. The mutual disgust of the two candidates for each other, and their vitriol, provided mild entertainment.

3. I watched it this am
it is on youtube

was not very impressed with the debate overall

I think Boxer came off better than Fiorina; Carly looked more polished but also more craven and elitist.

Boxer sounded a bit hoarse perhaps she was ill.

Fiorina's negative attacks fell flat and were mostly answered succinctly by the Senator while some of Boxer's jabs were well placed and went unanswered.

Both played to their base, but Boxer seemed to be reaching out to conservatives with outsourcing and her "Made in America" sound-bite. I did not notice any indication from Fiorina that she is reaching out to liberals.

12. If there was anything of note, Fiorina killed herself on the abortion question
She can't hide from her past statements, and despite her lip service to self-determination by the states she can't deny that she'd vote to ban abortion nationally if the opportunity arose.

7. It's "Fiorina." I watched it-Boxer kept connecting Fiorina to Wall St. and outsourcing...
and HP, too, where Fiorina was fired. I think Boxer won the debate.

9. I listened to it on NPR - IMO it won't change the outcome of the election
There was nothing in it to change anyone's mind either way.

The choice is clear, the die is cast.

Boxer by a nose.

14. I think she did very well, all Farina is doing is milking a bad economy that they broke especially..

with GOP governor and a State level government that is totally undemocratic requiring huger majorities than DC to pass anything good for Cali. CA don't blame Boxer for this fix, the state legisture that will take time and effort. CA Boxer is your best hope, she goes, lights out.

15. The question I wanted Boxer to ask
"Carly, in the recent primary, the voters in Silicon Valley, where they know you best. overwhelmingly voted for your opponent. What do they have against you?"

17. I saw it! Or at least, as much of it as I could take, jumping in and out --
Edited on Fri Sep-03-10 04:39 AM by smalll
here's my impressions:

1) Before it starts, Fiorina has the advantage -- as an amateur in politics, she benefits from "low expectations" -- as long as she survives, it might count as a win --

2) Fiorina was not inarticulate -- and she had some well-memorized lines to deploy against Boxer, which she did with aplomb, however --

3) Boxer came across perfectly -- intelligent, energetic and vociferous when necessary, but at the same time, with humor, and a certain level of comfortability ---

4) Fiorina lost. The moment it struck me: When Carly (doesn't she just have to start calling herself iCarly to get the clueless kid vote?) was attempting yet again to shoot down Boxer, and she called Boxer the most "BITTERLY partisan" Senator in Washington -- call Boxer partisan, perhaps, but when Boxer comes across so loose, so humorous, so comfortable, and when Carly comes across so wound-up and so quietly angry, using the word "bitterly" was not particularly wise.

So this debate was a good thing. (At the same time, who knows how it will go -- the Teapartiers will vote; key demographics of the Obama constituency? Not so much.)
