Murdock Lied
MURDOCH LIED....

It was just a few months ago that Rupert Murdoch was asked whether it's appropriate for Fox News to play an active role in supporting the so-called Tea Party "movement."

The News Corp. CEO replied, "I don't think we should be supporting the Tea Party or any other party."

Ahem.

Media Matters' video on this seems pretty effective:

<...>

Note the tag line: "Fox is not news. It's a 24/7 political organization."

2. The sad thing is that the FOX watchers that I know...
..would be happy to have their "news" contributing to the Rethug or Tea bag parties. These folks are so ignorant of what it takes to make this country run under the designed Constitution. Ignorance is bliss.

4. Good reason for Obama to allow ZERO access to FOX until they show they are ready to clean house.
Edited on Tue Aug-17-10 04:31 PM by Dr Fate
Now here comes the part where we STRAIN every nerve and every ounce of our brain power to come up with an excuse or even a lIST of excuses for why Obama cant/wont/should not/never will DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

I know- lets say that Obama is constitutionally bound by the White House Corrspondence Association and the 1st amendment to allow FOX and any other trans-national corporation an audience with the Whitehouse press room! Let's say that even though it's not true.

I know- let's say that Obama MUST oppose the fairness doctrine b/c FOX will be mean to him if he does not!

The important thing is that we have a scapegoat (FOX) and lots and lots of excuses for allowing the scapegoat to retain it's voice and power..

So FOX is evil. Ho-hum. We knew that. The question is, what are the DEMS in power going to DO about it?

6. Chavez does not accept interviews from proven liars with proven conflicts of interest?
Edited on Tue Aug-17-10 04:40 PM by Dr Fate
Chavez does not give media access to trans-national entertainment corporations who present faked & fraudulent video tapes as "news?"

If so, then it that would be one area where imitating Chavez would be a good thing.

I see nothing Chavez like in barring an partisan, ENTERTAINMENT providing corporation from the press room, and neither would most voters, so long as they are made aware of the facts.

They are not a legit news org, and that can be EASILY proved with about 2 minutes worth of talking points.

Okay- so the "Fighting FOX would turn him into Chavez" excuse does not seem to hold water.

Okay, next excuse. Keep 'em comming!

8. Obama does not have time to go head to head with Fox.
that would be ridiculous, like succumbing to a mudwrestling match.

As for reinstating the Fairness Doctrine, I'd be all for that. Who knows maybe he has something in the works. He does seem to be working in the background on all kinds of things, even tho people shout at him for being a do nothing, he does something.

Wow, can you imagine the media going nuts over this? I think they are generally shameless fucking hacks with an agenda that does not have the interests of the american people at heart, but if obama tried something like that, ... they would even be more bazarre and brazen with their attacks on him.

9. He does not have 5 seconds?
Edited on Tue Aug-17-10 05:07 PM by Dr Fate
Obama to head of secret service:

"Do not allow anyone from FOX into the press room until I say so. That's an order."

So that's our new excuse, that Obama does not have 5 seconds (lets say 5 hours, max) of spare time to fight the corporation that impeached Clinton, stole the 2000 election and is responsible for a significant portion of the population beleiving lies about DEMS, then voting against them as a result?

The "We dont have time to fight the enemies who constantly attack and hurt us" excuse is awfully lame. For that matter, I guess Obama does not have time to oppose the Republican party either. What is the difference?

Not buying it. Republicans took time to attack the "liberal media" all through the 90's GOP revolution and Bush took the time to attack Dan Rather in 2004- and they were successful during those times.

Oh- and thanks for confirming the "But the media will be EVEN MORE mean to Obama" excuse- I knew that one would pop up eventually. If Obama were to cut off FOX's access, I'd give the reporting of that story 5 days, max in the news cycle. Voters will shrug. "So he does not allow FOX TV in the WH, big deal" will be the average voter response.

May I request your 3rd (or is the 4th?) excuse for not fighting (as opposed to WAYS Obama can fight them) that I'm sure you have lined up and ready to go?

11. then he'd have to spend a lot of time defending himself.
and he's got better things to do than make Fox number 1 on his list and then number 1 in ratings.

I'm sure he's got a better and smarter plan to deal with them.

13. "I'm sure he's got a better and smarter plan to deal with them. " But wouldnt that take time? LOL!
Edited on Wed Aug-18-10 10:15 AM by Dr Fate
Whatever his plan is, he will have to spend time defending it. You are now engaging in circular excuse making.

Under my plan, he would spend all of 5 minutes "defending himself." All he or any DEM on TV has to say is something like this:

"FOX has lied literally hundreds of times , presented fake video tapes, and donates to a political party, demonstrating a clear conflict iof interest. They are a partisan entertainment corporation, and we only work with legit news organizations. It's impossible under ANY standard toview them as having legitimatejournalistic standards. They are welcome back as soon as they can show some good faith: Return the donation, and fire the parties responsible for presenting the false video. This is all I have to say on the subject. Next question."

Taks about 1 minute to say.

I would give the news cycle on this 5 days, max. Voters will shrug and move on.

Also, you are wrong that this would make FOX #1 in the ratings-you are just saying that as an excuse b/c you know Obama wont take them on. If Obama did take them on in a manner that I suggest, you would magically change your mind and defend it as the greatest idea ever.

What would happen if Obama-or better yet- all DEMS boycotted FOX, is it would turn into a RW circle jerk, all their casual viewers will start turning to other channels once they realize FOX only has Republican interviews and scoops. They would dry up on the vine if played right.

Of course we need an excuse- so I'll say that Obama may not have the leadership skills to keep the FOX loving Liberman, Blue Dogs, DLCers, etc. from sticking with it.

Cool- I get to come up with an excuse too!

Face it- all you have is excuses and you have ZERO ideas for ways to make Obama fight.

So, again- all this thread does is remind us that our FOX news scapegoat is evil. The other thing this thread does is provide EXCUSES for letting elected DEMS allow said scapegoat to continue it's role.

21. Your plan would start a firestorm.
We can argue whether it's a hill worth fighting for. I will agree that restoring integrity to the Fourth Estate would be a welcome and important reform. But any action that could easily be interpreted as censorship on Obama's part would be a political mine field.

Sometimes we get to pick our battles and sometimes we don't. And right now ... it's the economy, stupid.
