How to hold our own in the midterms: Attack, Attack, Attack
Edited on Fri Aug-06-10 10:15 AM by RBInMaine
All this about massive GOP gains in the fall is corporate MSM narrative and will only happen if Dems fail to attack the GOP relentlessly. And what a load of ammo we have. The messages that will resonate with our base AND many Indies are simple:

1) A vote for Republicans is a vote to go BACKWARDS to their Wall Street Against Main Street Jobs Killing Plan of a return to Wall Street deregulation, massive tax cuts for the rich, and gutting S.S. and Medicare.(Americans want a MAIN STREET economy again, not a WALL STREET one. Call them WALL STREET REPUBLICANS a thousand times.)

2) A vote for Republicans is a vote for Tea Party Extremism that is about as far from the mainstream as it gets.

3) A vote for Republicans is a vote for their voting record in congress which has been to try to block EVERYTHING good that Dems have done or tried to do.

4) Under Bush and R's, we got the Great Recession and were losing 700,000 private jobs a month. That bleeding has stopped, and we are beginning to gain again.

5) As affirmed so well by Rachel Maddow, we have had huge PROGRESS in the right direction across economic and social issues, which we certainly would never have had under Republican rule, from the Fair Pay Act to the Healthcare bill to the Wall Street Reform bill to an Extended Stimulus for teachers and other public service employees.

If we ATTACK the Repukelicans, make the choice clear, ATTACK them on their JUST SAY NO record, AND get the hell out there and work, the RePUKES will NOT have this windfall election season they think they are going to get. (Also, MANY people are just mad at incumbents regardless of party. Dem challengers can use that to their advantage as much as the RePUKES can.)

** Here are some model campaigns to watch to show ALL Dems how to do it:

* The way Clark is bashing the shit out of the nutcase Bachman in MN.
* The way Weiner bashes RePUKES at every turn. (Watch his campaign.)
* The way the Dem governor candidate in MI bashes "Wall Street Republicans" there. (Watch that one. Virg is good. Goes right after those assholes.)
* The way Grayson bashes the shit out of the ReSCUMlicans at every turn.
* The way we are hammering the TeaIdiot running for governor in Maine.

1. How many election cycles will it take for the Dems to learn the lesson that the American people
rightly or wrongly, respond to strength more positively than weakness?

Or do they refuse to learn because they do not want to?

2. STOP Progress!!! How?
Vote for the republicans.

Progress has the potential to make real advancement with a solid Democratic congress, so if we don't put more of the same old 'borrow and spend' republicans in a place to obstruct the advance, progress is liable to overtake and run the country up to its highest potential.

Progress is America's number one enemy. So saith the con-creed.

3. Yes, politics is war, and you never win a war unless you go on OFFENSE. Actually, we did better in
'06 and '08 than in recent years, and Clinton was a good attacker too.
