Breitbart back to making "this about" Sherrod

July 22, 2010 8:11 am ET by Justin Berrier

Well, that didn't take long. After his effort to expose racism in the NAACP turned out to be a monumental failure, Breitbart, instead of accepting responsibility for his part in destroying the reputation of an innocent woman, started changing his story. His rewriting of history is best encapsulated in a clip from MSNBC, in which he says he feels sorry for Sherrod that "they made this about her":

BREITBART: I feel bad that they made this about her, and I feel sorry that they made this about her. Watching how they've misconstrued, how the media has misconstrued the intention behind this, I do feel a sympathy for her plight.

....

As transparent as his attempts to absolve himself of blame were, it turns out the best way to refute Andrew Breitbart's arguments is just to wait for him to contradict himself. Turns out, Brietbart felt so sorry that "they" made his phony story about Sherrod, that the next day he posted another clip from the video, again suggesting that she is racist. In the video clip, Sherrod discusses working with white lawyers in helping to save a black-owned family farm from some family members who wanted all of the land sold. The story concluded that they managed to save most of the farmland from being sold, but that a small portion of it was being sold to a white man. From a July 20 Breitbart.tv post:

1. Save it for the trial Andy
"I do feel a sympathy for her plight.

I hope she gets the best trial lawyer possible and cleans him out. My guess is that Fox try to will pay her
a large settlement and avoid a trial and the resulting bad pub.

2. Where do these slimebags come from?
And how can they produce so many of them? It seems like there's an endless supply of bottom feeders like him.

3. So much of this reminds me of the racism of the 50s
"he was asking for it"
"let them sit in our restaurants and there won't be no stopping them"
and on and on .......
Even for a white kid in a mostly white area, this crap pissed me off then and makes me doubly mad to hear it come back.

5. As I said when Obama was a candidate.
I felt like I was given a crash course in the Civil Rights Movement.

4. WHAT REALLY GETS ME
about this Bullshit...

Is that only those who realize and confront their OWN biases. Then choose to lay them aside. are the ones whom are NOT racist.

attempting to label and smear someone for expressing her own struggle with it is simply shameful.

HELL I have Black brothers... and I have had to confront MY own issues on the subject.

Brietbart is slime! he IS racist AND not only denies his own, but attempts to keep others biases at the forefront.

6. Counterproductive for them, imho
There's no way they can spin this to make the story anything but a disaster for Breitbart, Faux, et al. Keeping the story alive only makes them look worse and worse.
