Blanche Lincoln puts out her own poll--she's only 9-points behind not 30!
(of course it's also about a month old)

Benenson Strategy Group (D) for Blanche Lincoln
6/22-24/10; 700 likely voters, 3.7% margin of error
Mode: Live telephone interviews
(Benenson release)

Arkansas

2010 Senate
45% Boozman (R), 36% Lincoln (D), 6% Drown (chart)

This was in response to a GOP poll out yesterday:

Arkansas

2010 Senate
60% Boozman, 29% Lincoln (chart)

http://www.pollster.com/

My guess is that it's somewhere down the middle--probably 20-points behind.

1. interesting how Lincoln and Nelson, two dems who have enabled the GOP in the senate
aren't really being rewarded for their conservatism at home by voters. Lincoln is a probable loser and Nelson's numbers look bad for 2012.

2. Arkansas Ds backed the wrong horse.
When given a choice between a Republican and a Republican, the voters will choose a Republican every time.

Ds have to give people a reason to vote for them. Being not as bad as them isn't good enough.

6. It seems Arkansans would choose the Republican either way.

Which is to say nothing of the fact that they already did vote for Lincoln in the past. Sorry, but your thesis doesn't hold water at all.

9. It was 2 weeks before the primary!
So in that short time, you're telling me - without any evidence whatsoever - that Halter closed that massive gap? Really?

Anything to back up a flawed assertion, right?

And I only said "gaining ground."

If you want to pick a fight, go do it somewhere else.

Edited on Tue Jul-20-10 12:48 PM by Ozymanithrax
you will not be rewarded by Republicans.

They don't mind conservative Democrats, but they would rather have one of their own.

The South looks like it will continue in places to act like Republistan.

12. Zell was another story
He was liked by Republicans. He was also much, much more conservative than Lincoln or any Democrat. She wouldn't speak at the Republican Convention. I hope. :)

In the end, they prefer elected leaders to wear their own brand.

17. In Arkansas, she is about as "liberal" as you are going to get..
The alternative is a hard core conservative who will never vote with Democrats.

21. Better change the filibuster now
Because the dems aren't going to be retaining all their seats. So if they want to accomplish ANYTHING, the filibuster will need to go the way of the dodo.

It is being abused by the minority party.

19. It's really bad out here in Arkansas concerning Lincoln
I've been involved in discussions with several Arkansas blogs/facebook. Some of them (democrats) are going to vote for Boozman just to teach Lincoln a lesson because of that public option that she killed. I've been trying to tell them not to vote for Boozman as he's terrible. All he votes is NO NO NO NO to everything like a Republican machine with no mind of his own. We do have a third party that has an excellent platform, but this doesn't matter.

Lincoln is already gone. She won't even reach out to Bill Halter's supporters, she is reaching out to Boozman's supporters instead which is a big mistake. Doesn't she know what Harry Turman had said? That people would vote for a real Republican everytime rather than a democrat that acts like a Republican. Otherwise she would have a big chance to keep her seat.

22. Reaching out to Boozman supporters?!?!
:wow:

Miz Blank has worked hard to earn her political oblivion. Bless her heart, she wouldn't even act like a Democrat, unless she was forced into it. On those rare occasions, she looked like she had just smelled something offensive.

One wonders if Mark Pryor is smart enough to learn a lesson from her.

27. Right after she won the runoff against Bill Halter
She voted against the Clean air along with Republicans, then she wants to repeal The Estate Tax for the rich. Us progressives in Arkansas are pissed with her. She's gone! Arkansas is the top state for the most hungry, starving children. What did she do about that for 12 years? She is Wal-Mart's baby. She is paid by Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance of Arkansas to get her to kill that public option. She's one of the worst corporate whores. Thank goodness that we do have an alternative candidate. John Boozman has the highest votes according to polls which makes me sick. People in Arkansas should look at his voting records and his issues. He's horrible. He doesn't read anything. He just votes whatever his boss tells him to vote. Due to his being religous many church people are voting for him just because "He's Christian". Doh!

This is one Senate seat we will definitely lose. She did it to herself. Of course, Arkansas does seem to be getting more conservative. But alienating your base? See ya, Blanche.
