Being disappointed in Obama does not mean not voting for him in 2010!
I think he is dead wrong on his Afgan policy and the health care bill is weak as hell.

But come 2012 unless, unless he has banned abortion or outlawed being Gay, I will support him.

Why does this place seem to be you either 100% support Obama or 100% are against him??

We are are united on hating the GOP, we don't all have to be united on thinking Obama is always right.

85% of the people here would never vote Republican. That should be enough for us to get along.

1. He's not running in 2010. 85% is probably high
although there has been an infestation of sorts.

.......But I get your point, I guess.

3. I don't think Obama is on the Ballot in 2010.
I intend to vote for a Democrat in my Congressional district. He won't win, but that won't be my fault. I would consider voting for a Green Party Candidate in any local election. At this time in history, I would not even consider voting for a Republican.

As long as I'm breathing I will vote.

4. I don't know what's up with the "You're either wit' us or agin' us attitude"
I think it's because 'reasonable' posts are mostly ignored unless they are posted by a prolific & respected poster. Seems the most inflammatory posts get all the attention, thus people learn that inflammatory is good.

9. You got me
I support Obama on key issues such as restricting FOIA secrecy, banning CIA black sites, disclosing key Bush-era OLC memos, guaranteeing International Red Cross access to all detainees, changing our tone towards Israel and his diplomatic overtures to Iran. I oppose Obama on the Afghan War, his bank rescue plan (which was really a sleazy give-away to Wall Street), blocking judicial ruling on Bush's eavesdropping, and so on. His record has been mixed, and so has my reaction to it.

But can you really voice that mixed reaction without being accused of being a "freepie" or an "Obama hater"?

15. People post critiques every day that lead to civil discussions
If, on the other hand, you lump all your objections into one inflammatory headline that can't possibly lead to a reasonably focused discussion, then of course it'll be a flame-fest. If you can't resist saying "Obama is no better than Bush", flames will ensue. If you lump all DUers who are somewhat ambivalent over his Afghanistan buildup into "war mongers", then you may not get the reasonable discussion that you were (not) hoping for. Why do I even have to explain something so obvious? Oh, that's right, too many here assume that those who agree with Obama on an issue where they differ are idiots. Nobody here is an idiot (with very few exceptions.)

In fact I'm going to do my best to get Sarah Palin's supporters out to the polls in 2011.

Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 01:36 AM by Historic NY
hey he is just feeling the ropes so he didn't get 4yrs of stuff done in 1yr...Rome wasn't built in a day either. If your not willing to stick with him and the majority party I don't think you will ever see your agendas or expectations met. A third party or fourth party movement won't accomplish much. The Palinites and the Te Bagger have been energized if they remember to come out w/o your support Obama is sunk. AND then WHAT?

13. It's called a typo. He mentioned 2012 in the body of his message
Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 07:07 AM by mcablue
Many of us have "2010" in our minds, because the year is all over the news, as congressional elections will take place in that year. He clearly confused 2010 with 2012, and you pretend he meant 2010.

Kansasvoter:
But come 2012 unless, unless he has banned abortion or outlawed being Gay, I will support him.

18. While people focus on your typo as oppose to addressing your point
I have to say that I agree with you. There seems to be polar opposites when it comes to opinion about Obama. But the truth lives somewhere in the middle so regardless whether I disagree with him on major issues and agree in others I would vote for him. I mean, what is the alternative? Let a Republican president take over?

Telling Democrats they vote on a different day than everyone else is a classic right-wing dirty trick.
