Biden's 2008 presidential campaign gets hit with $219K fine
Source: USA Today

Some embarrassment for Vice President Joe Biden, stemming from his 2008 presidential campaign -- a $219,000 penalty from the Federal Election Commission for bad bookkeeping.

The fine includes a deeply discounted flight aboard a private jet owned by a hedge fund.

Biden spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander said in a statement: "Some repayment is commonplace after presidential campaign audits and the repayment ordered here is relatively small."

Here's an Associated Press summary of the disputed flight:

1. VERY costly gaffe right there.

Even worse than the plagiarized 1987 speech. Much much worse than him saying "this is a big f-ing deal" on live TV (albeit during applause right after Obama signed the health care reform bill)

Why keep this guy in 2012? seriously I think Obama needs to clean house VP included.

Every campaign has screwups--and Joe's ended more than two years ago. This is maybe embarrassing for Joe Biden, but no one else.

5. Pretty mild if you ask me
Biden for President (BFP) reimbursed GEH Air Transportation, LLC $7,911 for the flight – the estimated cost of first-class airfare for three on a comparable commercial flight. But the FEC determined that the flight should have been reimbursed at a charter rate of $34,800.

6. I don't think Biden needs to be "dumped"
But I think Obama should be grooming a VP in 2012 that can run for President in 2016.

9. I don't think that's gonna happen

I think these two have an amazing relationship based on respect & trust, something that we haven't seen between a Potus & vpotus in a very long time.

10. Yeah! Biden is horrible and
owned by Wall St. And very careless with money, else why was he the 2nd poorest senator after 30+ years in the Senate? Dump the bum, I say!

PS: :sarcasm:, just in case :-)

8. As someone who loves Biden and backed him for Prez - I will say
that his campaign was poorly managed and it was frustrating to watch...
I'm not surprised. He will pay it back. NBFD.
