Poll question: Does the "Federal" Reserve operate in the best interests of the American people?
And if not, why would we want to give them more power over the financial system?

1. No, and it beats the hell out of me why we give them so much power. You need
to ask the people who seem to think it's the thing to do.

2. As they see it
Is the operate phrase that is missing.

I'm pretty sure they don't always get it right.

3. In whose opinion?
From the POV of Federal Reserve Board? I'd bet thy think they are operating in the interests of the American people.

Ron Paul? That is a big negatory...

In my opinion, I think they operate mostly, as in more than 50%, in the interests of the American people to maintain our currency and keep the banking system solvent, both critical to the well being of the American people and the economy upon which we all rely.

6. No, I just answered the poll question...
Does the "Federal" Reserve operate in the best interests of the American people?

I think we should have taken those banks and broken each up into 3 or 4 banks, so they are not too big to fail. From what I read and understand about the economy, they are critical to our modern economy.
We should have investigated their CEO's and other corporate officers, and if crimes were found, they should have gone to jail. Probably about 90% would be in jail today.

The Federal Reserve Bank is the mechanism the U.S. uses to maintain the value of our currency and oversee the banks. That mechanism is necessary to the U.S. economy. Collapse of banking is what caused the great depression. I think we should have made a national bank, such as the one destroyed by President Jackson rather, than allow the Federal Reserve to remain in semi-private hands. I feel the same way about the post office.

7. No, it is a private bank in charge of our monetary and needs to be abolished
It is also in major cahoots with the IRS.

among the most wealthy five percent and up, yes.

On a side note, if they shaved 1% off of Goldman Sachs annual revenue they would have more than enough to make everyone in the United States a millionaire.
