I want to give folks a reminder.........
especially the folks who seem comfortable with the proposition of letting the Republicans filibuster the unemployment extension ad nauseum to benefit the Democrats in November: There are real folks awaiting these benefits. Real folks, who have lost their jobs, mostly through no fault of their own. Real folks who will lose their homes and the ability to pay their bills with the paltry, but helpful, sum of money that is their unemployment compensation. Real folks who dutifully paid into the unemployment insurance fund while they were working and are cruelly being denied their money by an ambitious Congress. These are people with families and lives, not election metrics.

I don't post much here anymore, but I thank you for listening.

1. THANK YOU. K&R.
Contrary to some of you who seem to think this is just a game of Blue Shirts vs. Red Shirts, there is more at stake here.

3. ..and that reality is why the Dems should have let the repukes filibuster!!!!
The reality of the bill and its defeat should have been brought home to both those that need it..and to those that do not realize how
many people need it.

Let the repukes stand up in front of the nation and explain WHY they are denying the aid that it supplies...

Why do the Dems always give the repukes such an easy way out!!?????

5. political theater at the expense of people who often
are struggling just to keep facing another day is disgusting.

I agree with you. I think the Dems can point out the ugly truth of how little the "compassionate" conservatives really care while working to help. Otherwise, how much do we really care?

Happy to rec.

6. The reason we want them to filibuster is so the world will know what assholes they are!
As it is now...just the threat of a filibuster is keeping this from coming to a vote. That's not getting the public's attention.

8. I understand that. But how long can we afford to wait?..........
How many poor folks will we hang with the rope we're giving the Republicans?

9. That's why we need to let Harry Reid know that we want him to force the
repukes to filibuster. When the public realizes what the repukes are doing...maybe the public pressure will make them give in. As it is now...the public only knows the measure failed in the democratically controlled Senate. That kind of leaves the impression with people that the Dems didn't pass it.
