Now don't get to excited because this is a Rasmussen BULLSHIT!!! poll meaning she probably is only 2 points ahead. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/jun/25/jon-ralston-close-race-between-two-unpopular-picks/

3. Because all the media talking heads including Big Ed are quoting this poll
they all use his polling for some unknown reason

4. As the article says, both are unpopular
Their respective negative ratings are identical, this is a side effect polarization.

It all comes down to whose supporters are the most motivated. I'd have to guess that the tea partiers are far more likely to GOTV for her than our side will do for Harry. He's disappointed a lot of people.

12. Passing healthcare and the most major financial reform since FDR
and a huge stimulus package that did start the turn around for our still weak economy?

16. HCR is not universally popular
even among progressives who felt that we should have had something more. The jury's still out on what people think about financial reform. Even the people most affected haven't yet seen a copy of the final bill, the one the President's going to sign,

I'm not really sure how much credit the President and Harry Reid get for the stimulus package. If the official doctored unemployment rate doesn't go below 9% by Election Day, my answer would be "not much".

22. What you are saying jibes with most of the media
but, Obama's job approval seems to be significantly higher in polls than the media says. (just consider it's always news when it goes down and rarely news when it goes up. If you never looked carefully at the numbers, you would think there has been a major decline from last summer. Yet, the trend has been essentially flat since last August. )

The Republicans have a talking point that the test of the stimulus package being that unemployment would stay under 8% or 8.5%. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/jul/09/eric-cantor/Cantor-and-other-republicans-say-obama-promised-s/ The fact is that economy was falling off a cliff starting in September 2008. The nemployment rate was increasing rapidly. Here is a graph that shows what was happening on a monthly basis. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2010/04/the-democrats-visual-argument/38370 What is clear is that starting in February 2009, the number of additional jobs lost started to decline and eventually there were small gains. This is the picture Democrats need people to see.

Here, we are handicapped by the fact that our leaders, not wanting to create more alarm than there already was, spoke of fixing things - not where the trends were heading. The Republicans have dishonestly attempted to creatively speak as if Obama was the one who was President in fall 2008 or to suggest that things got worse because of things Obama did. That is simply not true - and that graph shows it.

25. Graphs are fun to look at
but this fall, it's going to come down to how secure the average voter in the mushy middle feels. If he/she is comfortable, the Democratic Party will get the credit for it, if not, they will get the blame.

Every election is ultimately about that question, "Are you better off than you were two (or four) years ago?"

5. There are 129 days before the election. That is just over 4 months.
Campaigns don't start getting noticed by the public until Labor Day.

That's why- when it comes right down to it, leaders step up.

24. Angle is strong and can get the mindless masses to follow her
So as long as you strongly stand for anything, no matter what it is, those mindless masses will follow you. Sounds like something a right winger would say.

11. If it is Rasmussen then it is probably tied. Reid is very lucky, actually, that
he has a weak opponent. He has a definite opening because some are uneasy about Angle, despite Reid being a wishy-washy stand for nothing type.

26. And I thought Bill Nelson was the luckiest guy in the world.
He had the good fortune of landing Katherine Harris as an opponent a couple of years ago. And, although it's hard to say it, but Angle is crazier than her.

17. Nevada has highest unemployment in the nation
Now it seems to me that even a stupid shit-for-brains Harry Reid would finally go to the mattresses and MAKE THE RETHUGLICANS ACTUALLY FILIBUSTER!

Then he could at least illustrate a tangible difference between himself and his opposition. When you've got no job, no house, and you're hungry, you don't really give a shit about someone's political "philosophy". You're just going to vote for someone who can keep you alive, or at least someone different.

I would not be the least bit surprised that Reid gets his sorry, spineless ass handed to him by this complete tutti-frutti whack job Angle.

30. Don't forget that Nevada has Gibbons-who, while people were taking pay
cuts, thought his aides needed raises. Even federal funds coming into the state-the governor must react to get said funds-which I believe, gibbons has missed the ball-intentional or not I don't know.

The newly built City Center in Las Vegas was in financial trouble-Reid made it possible to continue the building. For the Senate Leader, I'd like to see someone forceful to represent main street other than reid, but here is no way in hell I'd ever vote for someone like Angle.

Are ready for prohibition? Will she pursue making alcohol illegal? What's next, gambling and sex too. LOL! I would think the casino industry, and the local liquor stores better wake the fuck up.

20. Reid should have it in the bag if they put out her unemployment stances

He's got it on his website but he needs a big media buy to run the video 24/7 and she'll be toast.

http://www.harryreid.com/ee/index.php/news/release/angle_wont_fight_for_nv_jobs_would_stiff_struggling_nevadans_scraping_

Angle Won’t Fight for NV Jobs; Would Stiff Struggling Nevadans Scraping by on Unemployment

Angle said “as your U.S. Senator I am not in the business of creating jobs” and has called those forced to collect unemployment “spoiled

skip

Meanwhile, as the employment situation in Nevada continues to suffer, Sharron Angle has repeatedly insulted struggling Nevadans who are forced to collect unemployment to make ends meet until they can find another job. Angle told Reno’s KRNV that Nevadans who were collecting unemployment were “spoiled” and just one week later insisted that extending unemployment benefits for people still out of work would be “a terrible thing.”

29. well, remember Nevadans voted for Gibbons even after the alleged assault on
the waitress and some business conflict of interest. I know, especially up north in Cheney country, they don't like Reid. But, will Nevadans "cut off their nose to spite their face?" "Stupid is what stupid does" and I wouldn't put it past some of them. She apparently wants to privatize social security--oh, I mean "personalize" it-I've heard she wants to dismantle our educational system-probably wants corporations or churches to take it over-how medieval of her and apparently thinks that it's not a senator's job to create jobs.

Now I'm in southern Nevada and living by the new solar energy facility brought to you by-wait for it-------Harry Reid! I think he's no Grayson, but I will vote for him big time over (who I think is) "crazy Angle!"
