Senate Dems fail to advance tax extenders bill for the third time
By Jay Heflin - 06/24/10 08:49 PM ET

Senate Democrats on Thursday failed for a third time to advance legislation to extend unemployment benefits through November.

The 57-41 vote rejected ending debate on the legislation, which would have sent the bill to a final vote.

No Republicans voted yes, while Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), who had also rejected earlier versions of the legislation, voted no. Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) voted yes after voting on previous procedural motions. Sens. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) were absent.

Interesting math in the senate.

2. I'm sorry, but that sounds like the kind of shit we hear from many DUers.

Like, 'Obama and the Democrats are to blame for weak financial reform, healthcare reform, etc' when we all know that 99% of Republicans have been against EVERYTHING; and compromised on NOTHING.

3. Sorry, but Democrats are to blame for weak financial reform and..
health care reform.

We compromised away almost everything behind the false banner of bipartisanship, yet in the case of health insurance reform, these compromises failed to win a single Republican vote.

8. There you go again..
falsely asserting that I'm a Republican.

Pathetic.

Do you have a brain? If so, could you use it once in a while and quit playing that lame card.

5. 5% of the Democrats are to blame; not all of them.
Blaming the other 95% doesn't help anyone.

And, your unwillingness to recognize how the Republicans are the real enemy shows just how far many on the left have fallen.

9. That's why Dems.' approval is so low. The title SHOULD be, "Republicans Block Unemployment
Benefits." Then, in the article, they should mention the one Dem. who joined them. But why would they print something so hurtful to Repubs.? :eyes:
