Obama will raise money in KC for Carnahan

President Obama will appear at a fundraising event in Kansas City next month for U.S. Senate candidate Robin Carnahan, according to her campaign.

The event will be July 8, with more details to follow.

Carnahan, a Democrat and the secretary of State, is locked in what is sure to be a very expensive battle against her likely opponent, Republican Rep. Roy Blunt. They will be seeking the seat of retiring Republican Sen. Kit Bond.

"We are pleased to have his support on the campaign trail, " Carnahan spokesman Linden Zakula said of the president. "His visit will bring together Missourians who are standing up against Congressman Blunt’s campaign funded by Wall Street, Big Oil, and corporate special interests."
