Gallup's Job Creation Index Hits 20-Month High
Gallup's Job Creation Index hit a 20-month high of +13 on Thursday -- up from +5 a week ago.
One-third of employees (32%) now report that their companies are hiring -- also a 20-month high, and up from 28% a week ago. At the same time, 19% of companies are letting people go -- an improvement over the 23% of a week ago.

1. I'm trying to stay hopeful
Today marks 13 months of unemployment for me. So I'll try to be cheered by that Gallup number.

It's realistic to see that as positive. It's also hard to keep that upper lip stiff.

2. I heard some very good news about GM on NPR yesterday. Everyone
seemed fairly surprised that GM wouldn't have their normal summer shutdown due to record demand for their vehicles. Sounds like we're really headed in a positive direction. Rec.
