MSNBC: Ron Christie claims there is no power under Articles I or II of the Constitution

that allows for the President to "shakedown" BP.

There isn't anything that I see in the Constitution that prohibits him from doing so. Ron Christie needs to get his prescription for his glasses changed.

As a second thought... I wonder how much stock Christie has with BP or other oil companies?

4. Weren't they always saying with Bush that the president is
responsible for the safety of the American people? I would say this falls into that category.

5. I saw that. He said Obama had no right to "demand" BP put that money in escrow...
but BP will tell him they AGREED to do it. Nothing unconstitutional about it at all either way. And Ron "I'm so angry I can't see straight" Christie was toeing the Repub. line that Obama is a bully-shaking down big ol' corporations who don't do the right thing. I really hope they keep up this line of attack-it's more like a GIFT to us Dems.

6. Ron wasn't talking to you, buddy.
He was talking to the squirrel on the scaffolding outside the building.

7. Well that squirrel used its telepathic powers
and communicated with the squirrel outside my house and getting all of the other squirrelly animals all riled up. :)

8. No, shakedowns aren't allowed in the Constitution
However, there doesn't seem to be a problem with the President talking a company into volunteering to act somewhat responsibly.

So I humbly suggest that the problem isn't with the President or the agreement, but with Christie's grasp of reality.

I know. Big news.

12. Good point. We need an act of Congress requiring energy companies to post bonds...
...before drilling, mining or whatever to cover the cost of damage they might cause. This voluntary compliance crap has got to go.
