Anyone post a fact check to Obama's speech?

THE FACTS: An independent arbiter is no more bound to the government's wishes than an oil company's. In that sense, there is no certainty BP will be forced to make the Gulf economy whole again or that taxpayers are off the hook for the myriad costs associated with the spill or cleanup. The government can certainly press for that, using legislative and legal tools. But there are no guarantees and the past is not reassuring.

Actually, it's a cut and paste of the AP article. So...there's the answer to your question...yes!

2. Obama never said the independent third party enforces anything.

They just oversee the proper distribution of funds is paid out. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't see the importance in your fact check. Eric Holder was in the room probably informing BP of the legal consequences ifthey don't follow through.

Nothing wrong with that and neither the USA nor BP could dispute the decisions made.
