So.....about that Tweety "Tea Party" Special on MSNBC.....
Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 06:14 PM by FrenchieCat
I was going to watch it, and saw the first few minutes,
and then I noticed a picture that may have been stolen from
the Obama inauguration or some other gathering was used to
look like a tea party rally (a totally packed like sardine Washington Mall? don't think so),
and so I decided to turn it off.

In thinking about it, I realized that Chris Matthews had much to do with promoting these hate groups
during the run up to the Health Care reform vote, and now he is exploiding something
he helped create with a special. Yes, Mr. Chris I-forgot-that-Obama-was-Black Matthews!

Sorry, but I cannot help promote that kind of manufactured shit,
as I know that a lot of it will be "Made up", since Chris will
conveniently ignore his and the rest of the media's role in
giving these haters a platform and promotional hour upon hours
of free air time, including the pumping up of the numbers of
these racist assholes.

Can't do it.

The next time, they'll manufacture something else,
and then try again to profit from it.

Nope.

Don't want any part of that.

1. Those who happened to be watching can convey what they are seeing,
I'd appreciate if you could post your impressions here.

I was curious, just feel compelled not to allow myself to participate.

2. Watching - only because I am burned out on work
But that has been the only BS to date.

And that truly was a WTF moment usually reserved for Fox News. No way was it a slip up, and no way someone in a production meeting didn't raise a stink!

4. Me neither and I do have another observation. Matthew's voice, his
cadence is totally wrong for a documentary-type show like this. The images of the Michigan Militia were excellent but the voice/cadence and nasally twang was so wrong. I went back to Leroy Jethro Gibbs...

their leaders.

I got so mad at the endless carping on Olberman tonight, I went straight back to Gibbs.
I also skipped the Hardball teaparty event and watched Gibbs for that too. Nice to know I have company!

Every night at least one episode, sometimes two. I watch them over and over. But it is new for me to dump Olberman for Gibbs. That is new, but I am so tired of the same old, same old.

I would think exposing teabaggers might be of interest. I wasn't aware that if the person doing so didn't agree with every blessed thing some think, it invalidated forever anything that might be discovered. Some would have rejected the Pentagon papers because they didn't like Ellsberg. I KNOW many would rather Watergate never have been brought to light because they now hate Helen Thomas. Without her, Nixon would never have resigned. Petty is as petty does.

There's a lot of wannabes out there. However, yes he did conflate their numbers. But in a way it's good because it makes those of us fear and become proactive to stop their expansion...so I let the picture thing slide.

8. Borders? I think it is exactly propaganda.
Regardless of the "agenda", information should be made up....
and small groups shouldn't be made to appear larger than they are....
certainly not by those who call themselves a news channel, anyways.

24. I thought it was fascinating.
It might be easy to draw parallels to the New Left, but the 60s progressive movement was never this organized and entrenched. Same level of anger at the establishment, though, if for different reasons.

41. well, the reason they're organized is because they are a
FAUX created organization. Why do you think the corporate media gives them so much attention? Hundred of thousands of people marched for peace against the war, millions all over the world. Barely a blip on our media. We had a teabagger rally near my town and the media made sure that you knew where, when it was going to be. It's like come and join the teabaggers--so, you really think this is a grassroots movement or a group who is being fronted by big business and repukes. Now some of those teabaggers just love deregulation, "buyer beware", type of business because ya'll know that government is bad, government can't do anything right. We just got to give all of those services to big business, because they really are interested in our welfare.

The progressive movement of the sixties had more people in the streets, like the peace rallies before Iraq, and they sure knew what the hell they were fighting for.

It's like everyone has forgotten that the "tea party" was fabricated by Roger Ailes and company. Sarah Palin, their "star" is a Fox employee.

I have no idea what his show will be about, but the promos did it for me. He's stirring a pot that should not be stirred. And he knows better.

Well done, made them look nuts without being blatantly sarcastic, and saved the biggest nut job for last, the internet radio guy.

Better than I expected from Matthews. He used just the right amount of historical references, but needed more analysis of how this era differs, other than more easily voiced through the internet and FOX News.
