Lawrence O'Donnell to host the 10PM Hour on MSNBC network announced today
(Looking forward to it. Hope the show starts soon.)
Lawrence O'Donnell will host the 10PM hour on MSNBC, the network announced Tuesday.

O'Donnell will develop a show to round-out the network's primetime lineup; currently, a repeat of the 8PM show, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," airs in the 10PM timeslot, after "The Rachel Maddow Show."

"Lawrence O'Donnell is an incredible talent, who our audience has gotten to know throughout the years, most recently as Keith Olbermann's principal guest host on 'Countdown,'" MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in the announcement. "It's great to have another anchor of his caliber on the network," said Griffin. "This makes us a bigger and better network."

"I've had a part-time job at MSNBC for 14 years," O'Donnell, who has been an MSNBC political analyst since the network launched in 1996, added. "Now that the network and I have gotten to know each other, I'm thrilled to be going full time."

6. I like him, but I'm sure he'll turn into a media whore just like the rest of them,
subservient to his show's producer on a quest for salacious news.

7. As long as he stays away from Health Care News.....
I'm good with that.

He was just soooo wrong on Health Care, that he nearly turned me off completely from him.
It was like the fact that he had failed in that area in 1994 meant that he was going to
punish all of us for the fact that it was being tried again. So as long as he recuses himself
from commenting on Health care, I welcome his new show to that station.

10. He's had some other DLC-leanings I've noticed as well.
Though it was the most obvious on health care. Ironic that he spent so much time as Keith's substitute during a time when Keith missed work because of the shitty health care system, and as a result, didn't utilize that daily hour of television to push a voice for actual reform, as Keith did when he was able to be there. :evilfrown:

At least he's not as confused as Tweety though, I can say that much for him.

11. Looks like the Countdown guest-host slot is the ticket to your own show
First Rachel, then Lawrence.

12. I love O'Donnell - but what does a black person have to do to get a show on MSNBC or CNN?
They can't manage to find a single black person in all of America to host a show but Willie Geist has one?

I mean, really.

14. On MSNBC they would have to be willing to handle all of their prison docs on the weekend

They had Carlos and I thought he was as good as Rachel.

19. I did, too. And they never promoted his show and let it die
It was actually shocking how they neglected him in promos. For example, when you went to the MSNBC website, he was the ONLY host whose picture was not featured in the graphic.

16. We're post-racial now, so it's diversity isn't really THAT pressing
of an issue on "the place for politics." I mean, until another beer summit is required for Melissa Harris-Lacewell or Eugene Robinson to get called in to provide color commentary.

17. I can't even believe Willie Geist is on Morning Joe every day.
I could stomach him for a few minutes at the end of Hardball a few years ago, but every damn day? What a tool. And ever since my friend told me he thinks Geist's mouth looks like an anus, that's all I can think about while watching him now. :o

20. He's Exhibit A proving that MSNBC's "we can't find any qualified black people" claim is spurious.

21. There's irony for you. You all seem to have forgotten the first Countdown sub to have her own show,
Alison Stewart. Who is at least part African American. AND female.

Unfortunately, her show was canceled.
