Why THIS war is Different
In THIS war we are going after Al-Queda
Except al-Queda has only about 100 operatives in Iraq.

In THIS war we are going after the people who assisted 9-11
Except there were NO Afghani planers or terrorists involved in it. 15 of the 19 people on the plane were Saudis

In THIS war we are going after Bin Laden.
Except he's in Pakistan now.

In THIS war we aren't following the Bush doctrine of going to war BEFORE there is an actual problem.
Except we are.

In THIS war the Afghanis want and need our help.
Except they don't

Yep this war is so much different.

6. 'Gen. Petraus "says affiliated organizations still have "enclaves and sanctuaries" in the country'
Edited on Wed Dec-02-09 05:23 PM by ClarkUSA
The country Gen. Petraus was referring to is Afghanistan, of course.

Link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3870206

Also from a recent BBC article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/8384994.stm

Later Foreign Secretary David Miliband said Britain wanted Pakistan to "join us in upping our game" in tackling terrorism
on its border with Afghanistan... he said it was "right that we recognise that stability in Afghanistan requires stability in
Pakistan too and that requires a combined effort."

We've all got to do more, Pakistan has got to do more, Afghanistan has got to do more and the international community
has got to do more, but we've also got to do better."

Between this source and the other source that quoted Petraeus, they bolster the reasons why Candidate wanted and why
President Obama wants to "finish the job" in Afghanistan and why he has the support of both the Afghanistan President
and the Pakistani PM to do so, especially since fighting will take place along the mountainous Af-Pak border region where
the Al-Qaida leadership is ostensibly hiding.

21. What's pitiful is how some mistake meaningless childish rhetoric for a "fact".
Edited on Wed Dec-02-09 06:00 PM by ClarkUSA
But it's not surprising, given that's how most of the 24/7 anti-Obama crowd always operate when it comes to attacking Pres. Obama.

You can not be reasoned with or argued with any more than a right-wing teabagger can be argued with.

You're on ignore from now on. You are just not worth spending time with.

20. You're welcome, Cha. The 24/7 Obama Outrage Club obviously favors red meat rhetoric over facts.
They're just like teabaggers that way and are about as credible. They're just pissed about Pres. Obama's having an exit plan that ends
the war in Afghanistan by 2011. So what we're seeing is a hastily thrown-together Plan B of their perpetual FauxRage.

25. That's all the 24/7 Obama Outrage Club got. Facts contradict their red meat bullshit rhetoric.
Like I said, they operate just like teabaggers do but much to their dismay, they are much less relevant to the
party than their wingnut counterparts. That says a lot about the Democratic Party and not much about the
RNC.

9/11 could have been stopped so easily. If Bush and Rice hadn't had their heads up their butts.

33. no they are not- and your saying so
doesn't make it so.

Sorry- you think you have the corner on what reality is, but you don't.

Where was your outrage when Obama addressed us in March stating his plans for Afghanistan? You were here then, let's see a link to your posts decrying the 17,000 troops that were sent over as a result.

The problem is that I DO 'get it' Techn0Girl- and my consistant position against using violence as a means of controlling others can be found in the DU archives-

Being against war is not an end in itself- you can be against war and not be an advocate for peace.

Do you get THAT?

You will, someday, I believe.
